Drinking water abroad

Please don't laugh at me, this is embarrassing to ask! I'm going abroad soon for the first time in a long time. Going to France, Germany and Switzerland.

Can I drink the tap water in these countries, or do I need to buy bottled? If yes to bottled, what about when boiling water for a cuppa or use in cooking. Or washing fruit and veg? Or even teeth brushing? All I can remember is not being allowed to drink the water in Spain as a child! I have a dodgy stomach at the best of times so it's something I've been thinking about but embarrassed to ask in real life! Thanks.

The water in all those countries is absolutely fine to drink.

Absolutely fine to drink. You won’t get tap water in restaurants in germany though, it will be bottled. but tap is fine to drink

Pretty much all of Europe is fine.

Some of the Greek islands don’t have desalinisation plants so the tap water is salt water and not for drinking - although it won’t actually harm you it tastes fucking awful.

Thank you so much! I thought everyone would just take the piss. Thanks also for the tip on tap water in restaurants in Germany.

It’s fine but I tend to mostly stick to bottled as I have a sensitive stomach. Take acidophilus before you go to help build good bacteria (keep it in the fridge).

All EU countries have safe drinking water they meet high EU standards

Thanks for all comments. I had read that the water in Germany can taste a bit odd (to us). I don't have a very good stomach either so I appreciate I'm a bit extra about it 🙈
