Hip locked- anyone help me I’m miserable.

I’ve had an awful year healthwise and now my (other) hip has locked. I’m actually really miserable.

Its only way to describe it is that I don’t have the full range of motion and it just stops. It’s incredibly frustrating and painful when it locks. I’ve tried stretches, yoga and massaged gun and nothing work.

Because of the mechanics of the hip are quite mind blowing its hard to describe but I reckon I have now a 60% range of motion in the left hip. I’ve had odd pinches in the past year but now it is constant and driving me insane. It’s not painful all the time just when I a move.

Added to that I’m being treated for chronic low back pain and a chest infection- I just think the GP surgery are just going to think I’m a hypochondriac. I’m pretty fed up.

I’ve done so many stretches tonight my leg aches and tingles.

I’m 45. I’ve lost 3st in and have another 2 to lose - BMI is 29.

The worst part is it makes my back ache so much more debilitating.

Any help advice or jokes to make me less miserable.

Have you had it xrayed? There's a condition called impingement (FAI) where the hip socket and/or top of thigh bone can develop to become mis-shapen, which means it can pinch and lose range of movement. I had it, and was operated on 10 years ago to reshape the bone and regain range of movement. It was a long old haul to get diagnosed though, as the gps missed it on the initial xray because they were just really looking for arthritis. Then I had repeated courses of physio, which obv didn't really help, but then they were sidetracked with trying to tell me it was bursitis. Finally I was referred to the orthopaedics dept and they could see the impingement in the joint on the original xray I'd had 3 years earlier!

I’m going for an MRI of my back I’m not sure if he is has put the hips on I mentioned it in passing (I really doubt it) I really need to speak to him again it’s so awful!

I googled it and came up with FAI. Did yours get worse?

My MRI back and hips were checked. Consultant said that the back was the main issue but affected the hip. Do make sure hips included.
