Where are the normal sized cabbages ?

I usually shop at Sainsbury’s and generally find the vegetables decent quality.

BUT all the cabbages- white and red - are tiny! I haven’t seen a large red cabbage in months- and refuse to pay 79p for one the size of an apple.

is there a national problem ? Can I get better sizes at another supermarket ?

Do you have any independent grocers near you?
I find they often have better produce. The polish grocers near me has huge cabbages.

I’m finding the same with garlic. Even the ‘extra large’ bulbs are no bigger than a conker.

I’ve had a couple of cabbages on home delivery recently and they are ridiculously tiny!

We have not had any significant rain. Vegetables need rain to grow.

I actually went into Tesco today and their red cabbages were double to size . Still not huge but I felt like they were worth the price.

It's the weather. It's been hostile in one way or another for 2 consecutive springs, now. I haven't seen savoy cabbage for ages and the early Spanish sweetheart cabbages were musty thanks to the rain they had and now our own are in season they're lovely but rather baggy. I also don't like sweetheart cabbage with gravy. It needs a tangy sauce.

I can't remember the last time I saw a cauliflower that wasn't already halfway to the compost heap.
