A younger female relative (early 20s) recently told me this. She was mugged on holiday in Spain. No physical violence, but understandably deeply shocked and upset. All their cash gone, she's not from a wealthy background (far from it), was upset at the thought of calling her parents or me (although of course I'd have helped). I don't think she had insurance. She went into a pub as she was too upset to go home. Asked for a glass of water, visibly upset. Long story short another customer an Irish chap sees this unfold, gave the barman €300 and asked him to give it to her, which he did. Apparently he'd already left so she didn't get to thank him.
