How can I put free/cheap music on mp3 player

I have got an MP3 player on Amazon and want to put songs I listen to on it. if I bought all the mp3 versions I’d go bankrupt

Musicians make and produce their music as a job. Their songs are their product. If you want to listen to them, you need to pay for them.

It looks like it was made legal in 2014 and illegal again in 2015 and that the UK is an outlier in that respect - unless anyone can find another overturning of the law

Regardless of legality, I can't see anything morally wrong with ripping CDs that you already own so that you can listen to them on an mp3 player (though this feels more like a 2005 conversation than a 2025 conversation...).
