Emergency Contact Details/Information

If you're applying for a job and the application form or Personnel Department request this information, what do you do if you essentially don't have anybody appropriate for this 'field'? Can an employer rescind a job offer if a candidate cannot come up with somebody? This is potentially an issue I could face in the near future. I'm unmarried, single, no children, no friends and not very close with family members, whom I would not wish to burden anyway.

Thankyou.

What a bizarre thing to put on a job application. Surely that's in breach of the GDPR because it's not necessary and proportionate to ask for a third party's private details on a job application form for every potential candidate?! Fair enough asking once you've accepted an offer and can explain to them what's what.

Definitely not needed at the application stage

Thanks all. Obviously not a requirement for the application stage but my question is still valid. What to do if there is no significant person? I'm sure I'm not the first to be faced with this situation.
