Dishwasher care

My husband loves washing up (strange, I know) so we've never had one, but have just moved to a house with one included. So excited!

How often do you clean the filters and do you have to add salt, or is that just for hard water areas.
Anything else I should know, that everyone else does already?

Your machine will tell you when to add salt/ rinse aid

Mine has a removable filter that I clean out if I notice it has food trapped in it and I wipe round behind the door seals as it gets gunky there. I only do it when I remember!
You do need salt for soft water areas - use dishwasher salt not table salt - it will tell you when it needs refilling.
There should be a cleaning program you can run and you can get dishwasher cleaner to put in.
One tip I got from a man who came to fix mine once was not to rinse things off before putting them in the machine as it needs something to work on, as he put it. Obviously you can scrape off big bits of food.

I love my dishwasher!

Salt is just for hard water areas.

I’d clean the filters now ie before first use, then monthly or if the dishwasher starts not cleaning the dishes properly.

It’s also good to run the machine (whilst it’s empty) on a hot wash once in a while (and probably before your first use) just to clean all the inside.

It’s much more efficient than washing up and better for the environment in terms of water usage!

Oh but I hate Fairy tablets (just saying) because environmentally they are one of the worst offenders. Sorry but I had to say that lol
