My mobile phone was stolen yesterday lunchtime by a yodel courier whom I had never seen before.
i am disabled and was reclined in my chair opposite the front door which was open
Next to my front door is a basket which contains dog lead, hairbrush, sunglasses, my lipstick etc.
i put my phone in the basket for safety ironically as i was filling a bin bag
Courier came to the door, and dropped the parcel on floor He was approximately 5'6 so phone would've been in his eyeline
By time I got up to get the parcel He'd gone taking my iPhone 16 with him
sorry, that was cathartic!
Anyway, I have been advised by Police, Credit card fraud dept, Vodafone to get a doorbell camera but I'm wondering how useful it would be in my situation My flat is tiny and ground floor off a communal path
Can they be faced inwardly to cover the front door and entrance to my flat?
it's only after the event I realised I could've been attacked or raped or anything really
I apologise if I'm rambling I'm still a bit bewildered by it all and have only told my eldest son.

i’m so sorry this happened to you, it must have shaken you up. I bought a doorbell camera today but as i’ve not even put it up yet, no advice. But I did want to acknowledge what a horrible thing to happen.

That’s awful Im sorry you went through that.

You can get a blink doorbell and camera pack. So you can have the doorbell recording from one angie and the camera from another.

The footage lasts for a month and costs up to £8 a month depending how many cameras you have. You can have it free if you buy a memory card and view it from there. I think it’s be a faff though. .

PS if anyone next door or over the street has a camera the police may want to view they need to see their footage within the month or it’ll disappear. Some people set it to delete quicker.

Thank you both for taking the time to post
Your kind words mean a lot
None of my neighbours have doorbell cameras as it's such a quiet and private area unfortunately
I thought at first it was ridiculous to think the courier could've taken it, risking his job etc but it's the only possible explanation.
