Sertraline advice

My DD has recently started sertraline. Her job requires a high level of physical activity and she is really struggling in this heat. Apparently heat sensitivity is a side effect? She is due a review with her GP on Monday but just wondered if anyone has experienced this and could give advice?

She may take a while to adjust if she's not been on it long.
My DS2 (adult) has been on a high dose since he was 16 (he's autistic with OCD and anxiety), and doesn't seem to have any difficulties with it generally, BUT he does burn at the slightest hint of the sun.. he has to be covered up or slathered in factor 50 or he FRIES.

I think it should be ok once we aren't in a heatwave, but she will need lots of sunscreen!

I don't think that heat sensitivity and increased vulnerability to sunburn are inevitable side effects - i'd never even heard of the latter as a side effect and i've been using sertraline for years. Different people experience different side effects, and for many the side effects are minimal-to-zero after the adjustment period.

Your daughter's heat fatigue could well be part of her adjustment to the meds. Though in fairness it has been so hot recently that it could just be a normal response to challenging weather, exacerbated by the worry and self-scrutiny of being on new meds.

Thanks both. Since we’ve been talking about it i keep getting posts popping up on my social media about sertraline and the heat so maybe i’m thinking its more common than it is. Hopefully things will settle down when her body adjusts and its not so hot!!!
