Anyone else watching 👀

Just watched The Lottery Winners and feeling officially old, never heard of them before. Thought they were good and loved the crowd doing the dance moves.

I'm sat at home and can hear it all! I usually go but XDIL messed that up, long story.

I normally go every year as it's in walking distance but I'll just listen instead.

LlynTegid · 20/06/2025 20:53

Seen bits. Only four people I have met are performing though, usually more at any large festival.

Amy Macdonald is a very good songwriter, really came out with her choice of songs.

Summersunshinebliss · 20/06/2025 21:44

@DinoLil oh you could have a mini festival in your garden.

@LlynTegid it does seem a small festival. Agree Amy is a good songwriter, thought the crowd was subdued watching her though but it might have been different there.

I’m here and it’s been absolutely BRILLIANT 🤩

DinoLil · 23/06/2025 18:34

@Summersunshineblissi would have done, but the chap who mows my lawn (yes, I know, I sound a bit precious!) Is on holiday and the grass is chest height!

The festival can host up to 90k but its usually around 55k. Considering the island's population is about 120k, I'm surprised we don't sink 😆

DinoLil · 23/06/2025 18:35

@DCorMe so glad you've had a brilliant time! I've had a bit of fomo from not going this year. Get home safely!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 23/06/2025 18:41

Brilliant line up!!

Summersunshinebliss · 23/06/2025 20:47

@DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen did you go?

@DinoLil I was thinking about the extra amount of people on the isle. Dies it bring extra income to the isle of white? Also hope you get your grass cut soon 😉

@DCorMe oh spill the gossip. Who did you see ? Glad you had a good time.

I really enjoyed watching Olly Murs, The Script, Stereophonics need to think who else. Oh I can't stop doing the lottery winners dance 🤣

Really poor it wasn't advertised that Justin Timberlake refused to be filmed. I waited up last night to watch him. Really enjoyed James and Midge Ure though.

Midge Ure and James were standouts for me. Stereophonics were polished but I felt Kelly Jones dialled in his performance - no real passion there. The Saw Doctors, the Script and the Corrs were all really good. Caught some new bands too - liked Daydreamer a lot and a great band called Pronghorns. Sting disappointing - off key a few times and Alison Moyet was dull. But plenty of great bands (Remember Monday surprisingly good) and a great atmosphere. Didn't see any trouble over the 3 days and only 2 people the worse for wear.

Security staff were brilliant. Hats off to them for being consistently pleasant and keeping us safe.

No, sadly .

You could hear it from the mainland. Guess the wind was in just the right direction to carry the sound over the water. 😄

PugInTheHouse · 24/06/2025 00:26

@Summersunshinebliss so glad people are starting to notice The Lottery Winners, they are great, we've been following them several years now, in fact my son supported them when they were just about selling out 250 people venues! They are supporting Robbie Williams at the moment and seem to be getting the recognition they deserve. I love their album ART, fave song Letter to Myself. A friend of ours is their producer also, he often performs with them too.

My first date with DH was to the IOW festival 2005, such a brilliant weekend.

Watched Sting's performance which seemed lacklustre? It seems as if he was trying to recapture some lost rock "god" image The band and format seemed dwarfed on a large scale stage and big venue. As an artist he lacks the team player mentality because of his ego. Don't get me wrong, he's wrote some good ballads, both inventive crossing genres of music with political statements and environmental concerns which I think will be his legacy. Maybe it just wasn't his night ? Ps It seems as if every headline artist must be revered by hearsay from an earlier generation - but described as a "breath taking performance" not quite sure about that ? and I like Sting - a canny chanter From a Geordie in exile.
