Trying to lose weight. Can't stop thinking about going out to buy a magnum caramel delicious ice cream. Tell me not to. Thanks

Cow mucus, ew

WFHmutha25 · 20/06/2025 19:01

Ice lolly as a compromise.

ToffeeForEveryone · 20/06/2025 19:02

Fab lolly. 75 calories.

Donaldduck22 · 20/06/2025 19:09

Ice lolly won't cut it unfortunately and I have very little willpower (hence one of the reasons i need to lose weight) so I dont keep any ice cream in house and if I go to shop its danger zone!

Ice lolly all the way!

Donaldduck22 · 20/06/2025 19:09

Thanks for suggestions and help! I find it supportive

Twister lolly or Solaro

karmakameleon · 20/06/2025 19:11

Brush your teeth. I don’t feel like snacking straight after brushing my teeth.

pinkdelight · 20/06/2025 19:12

Have a cold can of something fizzy and calorie-free. Ice cream's not all that. But have some ice pops in the fridge for future moments where cold treats are needed.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 20/06/2025 19:12

Soleros are less than 100kcal, and the ice cream in Magnums is horrible!

lifeontheroundabout · 20/06/2025 19:16

Probably doesn't work for everyone, but in the evening sometimes my DS asks me if I would like a bowl of ice cream while I watch telly.
I always say yes, even though I know all that sugar and real cream is not doing my waist any favours.

If I've brushed my teeth early ( before bed ) I absolutely have no desire to eat anything, not even ice cream.

Another thing that works for me is that I have a glass of cold lower fat milk which fills me up with a better option than fatty, calorific creamy and sugary ice cream.

One other thing that works for me, is if I have the urge for ice cream, I just go for a walk for a half an hour 15 minutes whatever, and that also curbs the desire for a treat.

P.S. Be strong OP, DON'T have that Magnum Caramel delicious ice cream!

Comedycook · 20/06/2025 19:17

Get some ice polls or ice lollies....I buy the Sainsbury's value ones...they are less than 50 calories and a bargain. I get through boxes and boxes of them!

AcquadiP · 20/06/2025 19:18

Go and get a Magnum for crying out loud😂. This is the UK not the Med, these high temperatures aren't going to last more than a few days. You'll have plenty of miserable weather days to diet on.

I’m being dense - your DS offers you a bowl of ice cream and you eat it. How does that help?

Cheepcheepcheep · 20/06/2025 19:20

This is probably not the most ok thing as I’m sure I picked it up off a friend who with hindsight was a bit ortho - if I want a small calorific thing I imagine eating a whole calorific thing. Like, if I want a slice of cake I imagine eating a whole cake and it makes me feel a bit nauseous! So if it were me I’d imagine eating not one ice cream but 100 and it would put me off 😂 like I say, probably not a great idea but it helps me.

Lindajonesjustcantlivemylife · 20/06/2025 19:22

Better with sorbet..any flavour
Lemon or mango or raspberry my faves.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 20/06/2025 19:22

Oh no - feel guilty now.

Bought 12 boxes of Magnum, Solero and Rountree Fruit Pastille lollies today, for a party we're having at the weekend.

I was just about to go and get a Magnum. Having second thoughts now.

I’m in the Solero camp, it’s lovely and refreshing and surprisingly under 100 cals.

SayDoWhatNow · 20/06/2025 19:51

Why not get one of the mini ones? About half the size/calories and just as satisfying!

user7529706387 · 20/06/2025 20:06

Don’t do it! If you’ve don’t eat sugar the craving goes after a week or so. If you’ve have the magnum, you’ll have to fight the cravings all over again.
Have a fizzy drink of something.

tillyandmilly · 20/06/2025 20:08

Strawberry splits from marks low cal really nice 👍

persikmeow · 20/06/2025 20:16

Advise for the future - if you have a blender with a cup, throw in some frozen mango and a some low calorie / protein yoghurt (creamier if you do 50/50, more like a sorbet if you do a spoonful of yoghurt and more mango). You will have a bowl of delicious ice cream, minimal calories, some protein, pure joy!

Having one Magnum is not “giving up”. This all or nothing diet culture mentality is why so many people “fail” at diets and end up yo yo between severe restriction and over eating.

Have a Magnum, enjoy it, cut back a little bit somewhere else in the week.

No, that's not what's happening here. The attitude of "I'll have it if I want it" I.e a magnum is why I've ended up overweight. Hence why I am now not just having things because I want them.
