I remember an old thread where a group of friends basically denied themselves treats on holidays and days out for years because one couple in the group were supposedly hard up and they didn’t want the other couple to struggle. It turned out that they actually had saved a substantial amount to put their son through Uni . I wonder what happened next as the OP and friends were absolutely outraged and were going to confront hard up couple, but the thread had reached maximum posts so never knew what happened next . What is the thread that you remember and would love an update on ?

A lady with the user name or title (can't remember) Endless winter, or something similar.

Her husband had left her and the grief and pain of this betrayal was so palpable that I used to tear up reading her posts. She wrote beautifully too, even though there was much sadness in her words.

I often think of her and wonder if the pain subsided and her life started to change for the better. I truly hope it did.

Yes, I think of this lady often @pleasenotme ‘do they ever come back’ devastated’ her writing style was beautiful and I truly hope her life is good

My missing person is Somerville. She has name changed I believe but is possibly still here. Such a wonderful woman with such a tragic backstory. I hope her life is perfect as it’s no less than she deserves. She was also an epic support to me during my bloody awful divorce. I think of her often.

I was once mentioned in a thread like this and it’s really lovely and comforting to know that so many are rooting for you!

Somerville was an inspiration to me when I was recently widowed and probably the reason I joined Mumsnet.

Not quite the same but for years there was a poster on here called BigChocFrenzy

Now that is a blast from the past .

I often wonder about trickytreelou whose husband left her for an OW who was pregnant, then Lou found out she was also pregnant. He left, took all the chutney from the fridge, and Lou had the baby (Adam?) - he must be 10 or 11 now.

Exactly who I was thinking of. Perhaps even now a teenager? I think it was when I had first IVF around 2012. I was on chutney threads for a very long time then on OTBT.

This is the one for me OP’s friend was evicting an elderly tenant who had lived as farm help since he was a child. The person that inherited wasn’t even the son of the person just a relative.

I do wonder what happened to some of the women who have posted threads with titles like 'Was this my fault?' or 'Did I push him too far?' when they describe some innocuous event or conversation that results in being shoved down some stairs or strangled or something. I hope all those women have got away - some definitely have and have posted about it, but I worry about the others.

MyRootinTootinBaby · 20/06/2025 22:13

I sometimes suspect some stories of being made up/trolling, but I don’t tend to mind if they’re genuine 😂 I just enjoy them for what they are.

Hannibalism · 20/06/2025 22:14

I don't want to share too may details but regularly think of the poster who had a history of psychosis, could feel her MH deteriorating but couldn't get an appointment. Absolutely heartbreaking to read her posts and how the situation progressed. Thread ended up deleted but I really hope she is doing well.

PuppiesProzacProsecco · 20/06/2025 22:14

@FofB this one for me too! The CF allotment squatter was called Babs. I was way too invested in that thread.

And the crow lady...

Gosh yes you’re probably right, it was about then, so he would be a teen now and at secondary school.

The poster who was considering sleeping in her car during the summer because where she lived, she couldn't even rent a room in the summer because of tourists. I wonder what happened to her!

I also seem to remember the ironing board being on top of a wardrobe. In the spare room, if I remember rightly. Although that might have been a baking tray now I think about it.

Bring back the laugh emoji, right now 😭😂

The lady who bought a house and it had an allotment as part of the sale- but the seller had not told the current person who was tending it. She had an operation and her husband was delighted to start work on the allotment but the squatter threated to sue him. Allotment drama. Original seller pretended to not know anything about the squatter lady.

Why are you wondering about that? It was all sorted and the OP gave an update. It’s not a mystery.

The OP updated the allotment one. It was all fine.

Ohnobackagain · 20/06/2025 22:37

@MindfulAndDemure her ‘friend’ had stolen it and I think it all got resolved

StepAwayFromGoogling · 20/06/2025 22:37

Thank you so much. Lovely to know the son is doing so well but awful to see the OP has really suffered...

Lifeisapeach · 20/06/2025 22:38

I often think about the lady whose husband announced he was taking a solo trip away for a week (somewhere like France) and didn’t take her. She hadn’t had a holiday in years. He properly took her for granted. Him and the daughter would take advantage of her and often laughed at her together. She didn’t hear from him the entire time he was away and she booked a hotel for a couple of nights for them he returned. I didn’t hear what happened next. I do hope she was okay. She was going to leave him but I don’t think she came back with an update.

NescafeAndIce · 20/06/2025 22:40

Poppiesandroses · 20/06/2025 22:03

The one where a lady in France I think was divorcing a sulking partner and was so strong but he then was in hospital with mental health issues. She was so amazing and I hope she's ok now

That's jamaisjedors and she regularly updated! She was so strong to get through all of that.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 20/06/2025 22:41

@zeibesaffron

On to thread number 3 now. All I can say is if you know, you know.

GoldPoster · 20/06/2025 22:42

MindfulAndDemure · 20/06/2025 19:10

I want to know if the poster ever found out what really happened with her dyson airwrap and whether she received a replacement.

Pretty sure the friend eventually brought it back, without any explanation no explanation or anything.

CiaoMeow · 20/06/2025 22:42

The very recent thread - Endless Winter

dustydvd · 20/06/2025 17:13

Did the ironing board ever appear?

I also want to know this! It pops into my mind more often than it should too!

TheCurious0range · 20/06/2025 22:44

I wonder whatever happened to the m&s troll, did she ever get that Christmas temp job? Did they ever take her merchandising advice? Was she (or the water bison) responsible for the cyber attack?!

Anonbindrama · 20/06/2025 22:44

There was a thread earlier this year where a posters husband had had a head injury and was stuck in a French hospital (potentially skiing or skiing like head injury). I am not sure if it was updated but I think about it sometimes still and hope he was ok.
