She’s gorgeous!
She needs a big, glamorous name - Vivienne came to mind the moment I saw her.

FlightCommanderPRJohnson · 20/06/2025 08:23

Vivienne would be a great name for her!

TheNewVillageIdiot · 20/06/2025 08:24

I love how chonky she is! Bertha!

Watch out though, OP... people will come and complain you've posted a picture of a spider without a trigger warning 🙄

Well if they click on a post about spiders....

Bertha and Vivienne are so cool. Am leaning towards Vivienne.

I did want to get an orange one and call her Ponyo so was thinking about Studio Ghibli names too.

I follow a lady on TikTok who keeps jumping spiders, I find it fascinating

They are really curious and I personally believe they can form attatchments to owners.

She looks like a lady in leopard print so needs that type of name, like Patricia or agree with PP Vivienne. Although she's giving me Kit De Luca vibes from pretty woman 😅

slavetothekittens · 20/06/2025 09:49

Another vote for Vivienne..

She's beautiful.

TheNewVillageIdiot · 20/06/2025 09:55

Studio Ghibli names? Fab!

Arietty, Mononoke, Totoro!

Saisong · 20/06/2025 10:02

Studio Ghibli inspired: Satsuki or more left field how about Catbus!

I think she looks like a Stella though - she has night sky type patterning.

LaughingCat · 20/06/2025 19:38

Oh, she is wonderful! Proper queen! Vivienne is perfect for her.

showyourquality · 20/06/2025 19:40

I’m very scared of spiders but work on looking at photos and trying to think positive thoughts.
I like that some people like them.

PollyCreo · 20/06/2025 19:41

I don't understand this, is she a spider with wings? 😲

That’s her dinner, a big fat fly.

Ladamesansmerci · 20/06/2025 19:48

Love spiders! They're so interesting. I think she looks like an Artemis

tillyandmilly · 20/06/2025 19:51

Yikes!!!! Sorry I was trying to be brave and look at pics I have arachnophobia!

Well done for taking the step of looking at a picture. Spiders don't bother me but I have other phobias so I know how hard it is.

Doh, I see it now 😂

I had this little one on my house the other day. It’s a boreal tufted jumping spider.

I genuinely apologise for my ignorance on this as I’ve only seen occasional videos of them on Instagram and so on but how do they do this without a brain? That is so badly worded but I don’t know how else to put it ! Sorry!

I also see that they appear to be curious and friendly. But how?!

Saisong · 20/06/2025 21:22

But spiders have brains, very tiny ones, but brains none the less. I think jumping spiders are understood to have significant cognition related to their excellent eyesight.

I’m not expressing myself well. I suppose I mean an actual brain like ours. And whatever they have must be minuscule it’s just fascinating to see them seemingly have so much personality. Is that just anthropomorphism because they have a cuteness other types of spiders don’t? They are fuzzy and they seem to always have their little “hands” up like they are coy and they sort of tilt their heads. Maybe that’s just projecting cuteness and character though. I don’t know.

All I knownis I've had over a dozen, with a lifespan of 2 years and some of them I feel have a havier bond. One would crawl onto me and I could watch TV and fall asleep with her on me. She would just sit and watch me. I would chat to her and she would always face me.

I feel like they have a personality to a certain extent.

That’s really amazing that they don’t just wander off and do their own thing. They’re tiny and could just leave and live their lives. But they stay with you.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 21/06/2025 10:03

She's gorgeous.
I love jumping spiders.
I watch loads of YouTube videos about them and they really do seem to enjoy their owner's company. They seem really friendly and curious.

Have you ever seen a magnified picture of spider paws? Ridiculously cute!
