General waste bins

We used to have 2 general waste bins and we used to fill them both up very quickly. We’ve moved house and now only have 1 and we now live in the countryside and the bin wagons keep breaking down or miss us. This means we are literally overflowing to the absolute max and my husband has to keep taking bags with him to work to dispose of. We’re having to go like 3/4 weeks with an overflowing bin I have no idea what I’m supposed to do. We are a family of 5 and always have so much rubbish! My bins pretty much needs emptying by the end of the day. How do I go about buying another general waste bin or is that not possible?

Totally understand the bin thing i rwkky struggle.

Under my council you can request a 2nd general waste bin if you have a large family or other reasons such as disability etc.

In the past i have also had a 2nd recycling bin. I sent an email going on about how I had so much recycling that fills more than the bin that half of it ends up in general waste there for i end up with no room for my general waste. And I could recycle better if I had another bin.

At the moment I have a private collection. Which I have 2 collections a month at 35.00

I don't understand why you are asking here, it's a question for your local authority about their policies for extra bins.

When your bin collection is missed, do you report it and request them to come again?

Do you know where your nearest household waste recycling centre (aka tip) is?

Tip run? Are you recycling everything you can? What do the council say when you report a missed collection? We have 'waste warriors' that will go through the bin to see if you need another one.

Apologies just read the recycling bit. We can buy extra recycling bins or take it to the tip. Or cardboard will be taken in a box no bigger than the council ones .

It does sound like you are producing a lot of rubbish. There are three of us and we use less than one rubbish sack a fortnight.

However, if a scheduled collection is missed you should be able to report it.
