Birmingham Airport Security

Just a quick question for anyone who has flown from bhx recently..
Last year, the lines for security were ridiculous. I know they’re no where near as bad now, and I’ve booked fast track. Is 2 hours still enough time from arrival to flight? (European flight at 6am)
Also, I’m getting conflicting information about liquids. BHX website says no limit to the number of 100ml items and they no longer have to be in a clear 1 litre bag. However, I’m flying hand luggage with Air France and their website still states the 1litre clear bag liquid policy.

Can anyone give me clarity on this please? I’m trying to pack and it would make life so much easier if I can take a slightly bigger toiletry bag!
Failing that, I might just pay to check my bag!

I haven’t flown from Birmingham in the summer for a while, so can’t help with that.

for toiletries, remember you’ll need to bring things home as well, so check the rules of the airport you’ll be returning from.

what day are you travelling? We went through security really quickly last month flying on a Tuesday, no fast track, less than 10 minutes, very small queue. Weekend flights esp. in the school holidays will be much busier but with fast track you should be through in 15 - 20 minutes. Agree with PP that you need to check the liquid rules for the airport on the way back as they might not have the new scanners that are in place in Birmingham. If you don’t have to check in luggage I would be tempted to go a bit earlier as Air France bag drop opens two hours before for European flights so that’s when people will start going through security. If you are 15 minutes earlier than that then you might miss the worst of the queue. I would rather spend 20 minutes extra seated with breakfast than in a queue.

I’m paying to check my bag on the way back cos I know I’ll be buying bottles of liquids over 100ml. It’s mainly which rules do I follow on the way there that’s confusing me.

@GaladrielHiggins, Sunday AM. I’m anticipating it will be fairly busy. This is why I didn’t want to check my bag on the way, more time for coffee at that ungodly hour!

Went from BHX on a Saturday in May, didn't take us very long to get through security at all. Maybe 20 minutes? I had my liquids in a little clear bag all prepared, hadn't realised it was one of the airports where that wasn't required anymore! We weren't fast track either.

Flew out of Birmingham on Monday, security was horrendous, about 30 mins ...I fly a lot and it's the worst line I've seen in a very long time . Re Liquids ...only 100mls are allowed but you don't need to remove anything out of your bags, no removing laptop or liquids .

We flew out at 11am on Saturday, couldn't drop our bags till 2 hours before the flight (easyjet), got through security in about 15 minutes. Max 100ml was still in place.

Is there still a limit on how many 100ml liquids? Do they still have to fit in a 20x20 clear plastic bag or can I put them in a bigger, non clear toiletry bag? Just trying to determine what I can take vs what I’ll need to buy.

Im not sure about quantity but they ask you to put everything in your hand luggage, no little plastic bags required. Our bag did get pulled because it contained 2 90ml bottles of vape juice but they literally just looked at the bottles to check what they were.

BHX is really unpredictable. If it's school holidays it's horrendous. There are also one or two Jumbo long haul flights per day that really slow things down. Outside of those, it's normally 10 mins max.
