Going to Barga in Italy for a week on Saturday - rented a gorgeous villa 😁 Now, thinking ahead re evening drinks, and wondering what mixers I can get over there. I don’t do tonic, and drink FT Mexican Lime Soda with my vodka. I CAN do Coke, but would rather not have all that sugar… Any suggestions, or am I going to have to take MLS with me??

I’ve seen fever tree tonic in Spain but it was very expensive but never seen Mexican lime soda. Assume would be similar in Italy as they company probably export the same products to all European countries

Surely if you’re going to Italy you want to do as the Italians do: teach yourself to love aperol spritz or limoncello spritz. No need to import drinks at all. Or you could get into the mad bad world of negroni and negroni sbagliato.

I'd definitely go for Italian drinks - there are some lovely ones. Limoncello has a vodka base I think, and makes a nice spritz. I love Aperol spritz too (basically I'm seconding the PP).

I wonder if you’re renting the villa we rented near Barga. If it has a photo of George Clooney on the terrace in the hall, that’s the one.

Not a fan of Aperol (too bitter), but Limoncello? BRING IT ON!

I’ll let you know @EggMonster🤣 It’s a 3 bedroom villa, with pool set down from the house.

Also, don’t do negroni.

Limoncello doesn't have a Vodka base, we make with with pure 95% alcohol.
We have Fever Tree in Italy, it's quite expensive though, but we have a whole range of lovely Italian drinks and mixers. You'll find something I am sure

Soda water and fresh limes?

That’s not the one, then. Ours was bigger (we were two families) and called the Villa Pieroni. It was a lovely holiday, though with one wild storm that brought down a lot of trees and stranded us for several hours in the bakery in Barga until the roads were clear.
