Mountain Hiking safely with toddler

I’m heading to the alps this year with a baby and toddler in tow. Mostly they’ll both be in carriers, but if we take a break I want some kind of system where I can rope him to me or my partner as a precaution, to stop him slipping down any steep slopes. Normal toddler reins won’t cut it. I’m thinking a climbing harness for the toddler and adult, roped together. Has anyone got any recommendations?

You can get full body climbing harnesses for children, could look into those but I'm not sure they would be small enough for a toddler.

We started using ours when DC was 4.

You've posted this in UKClimbing as well!

What answers do you think MN will give that UKC won't?!!
