Thanks Upstartled.
Will the Chancellor listen? Doubtful. They seem hell bent on ploughing on. I keep hearing on podcasts that the Chancellor is under pressure from Labour mps to give much less credence to the OBR.

Lol yes they were happy to listen to OBR while Tories were in but now OBR is warning everyone of impact of Labour, they suddenly don't think OBR is trustworthy 🙄🤔

Oh great. It would be funny if it wasn’t so serious.

Yep. How many times did we hear Reeves bang on about the OBR from opposition?

Rumour has it that they want to change it to one forecast pa. That means the Chancellor can only be judged to have broken her fiscal rules once per year.

This made me laugh. How much will they try to change to get out of their hole. Well not get out of it but try so people don’t notice as much.

I don’t think it’ll work.

TheNuthatch · 16/07/2025 10:52

Hero to zero for the OBR 😂

I fear we’ll see a lurch to the left with Rayner the power behind the puppets instead of a plan to actually boost private sector growth which they are abjectly missing despite their occasional blather about cutting red tape…

twistyizzy · 16/07/2025 15:04

3 Labour MPs just been suspended for going against Keir. .....wonder where they will be hot footing it to 😂😂

Upstartled · 16/07/2025 15:41

Of course he suspended newbies. Abbott and Creasy unscathed.

twistyizzy · 16/07/2025 16:00

Rachel Maskell 4th MP to be suspended

Yeah, Rachel Maskell doesn't surprise me. She's a first class shit stirrer. She was rallying for immigration to go up recently -😂, she's not very on-message.

Wonder how many defections there will be to Corbyn over next few months?

Arrearing50 · 16/07/2025 16:11

It’s not at all surprising but I do like Rachel Maskell as she gets how important the private schools in York are for educational diversity and that some of her constituents were in desperate situations over school VAT…but the modern Labour Party allows for no dissent…until it gives up and u-turns.

its a sign of weakness really because new labour managed to keep Corbyn et al in the party…

Starmer just wants good little soldiers who trot out the pre-prepared script and show him undying loyalty. Hopefully there will be more leaving

Upstartled · 16/07/2025 16:14

There's certainly a lot of discontent in the Labour party. Badenoch put through a motion to keep the two cap policy so to force the Labour party malcontents to place their cards and vote against it.

So now 344 Labour MPs have voted against the Labour government policy to keep the two child cap.

No doubt they'll all be chewing on the one for the summer.

twistyizzy · 16/07/2025 16:16

And now Corbyn has given them somewhere to go

Upstartled · 16/07/2025 16:18

I don't think Corbyns party is much more than a symbolic threat, tbh. Have they got a name yet?

I don't think it matters tbh. Same as doesn't matter how good Reform are, they are both protest parties

EasternStandard · 16/07/2025 16:35

Didn’t loads rebel, I wonder why those four

twistyizzy · 16/07/2025 16:51

Rosena Allin Khan, Bell Ribeiro-Addy and Mohammed Yasin have also been sacked as Trade Envoys for "repeated breaches of party discipline"

TheNuthatch · 16/07/2025 17:04

This is weak and pathetic from Starmer.

Not a good day for Labour. I see they’re trying to bury it with miles of leaked email stuff.

Inflation up, whip withdrawn.

The interesting part is focusing on an email helps Reform. They are still stuck in the past and can’t say much other than ‘the tories’. That’s it. The usual lot included.

It's like listening to a stuck record isn't it?

Starmer needs to be very careful playing politics with that leak. John Healy hasn't done so, and he admitted that he was briefed on the SI before the election. He knew, then once in government, cabinet knew too. Labour also chose to stick with the injunction for another year, until journalists forces their hand. Presumably this was about protecting lives initially, but we'll probably never know the full facts. Its a can of worms.
You're right about Farage, he's running a mile with it. I heard him blame both main parties for allowing Afghan sex offenders into the country over this leak.

Recent YouGov polling shows immigration as the number one concern of Britons now.

I was just reading about Corbyn new party and Labour on 15% each and Reform over 30%’

Find Out Now polling

They are focusing on the wrong competition, the public have moved on.

Crikey, 15% each!
Yes they are focused on the wrong enemy. I suppose it's just 'attack the tories' auto pilot, as we see on here every day. They can't help themselves.
