Is it normal to feel this homesick?

Posting here as I think it's better suited for Chat
I have always been a home bird and I love to get back to my home everyday even though I am travelling for work to different cities even when my colleagues are staying overnight at hotels and they have a party, I just come back home on 3 hours each way train rides. I always look forward to seeing my husband and DC who are a toddler and baby.
I can remember for when I was little that I absolutely enjoyed being at home. Even now in my 30s, I just want to be back home.
I have come to New York to see family but I keep missing my home in the UK. I have got my DC along but DH is in UK. It's been 2 weeks and I am so homesick, the trip is for a month.
Even when I go on holiday for 7 days, I start missing home after 4 days and look forward to going back.
My DH thinks I am being dramatic but honestly I miss my home so much even though I might be absolutely loving my holiday and enjoying my time. Has anyone else felt this way or is it just me!

A month is a long time OP I think anyone would be missing home after a couple of weeks, you sound perfectly normal to me and I’ve travelled lot, even after day 7-8 of the most amazing holidays or trip I miss home. I miss my dogs, my bed, my own shower, the smell of the countryside etc.

Those hotels on work trips are so awful if I’m not too far I’d travel home as well.

Enjoy your travels what an opportunity though to spend a month in NY and I’m sure the time will go past so quickly. I think it’s a good thing to miss home it means you are settled and safe there.
