Fucked up in my parenting prowess this afternoon

Had the afternoon off for DC afternoon event at school. Was all lovely. Thought oh I'll get the paddling pool ready for when we get home so rushed home from work got it all set up and then rushed to DC school.

Thought oh will be nice to pick toddler up early from nursery too so set off after school with DC1 to collect. Traffic was a nightmare and roadworks so took twice as long as normal and we're all hot and bothered in the car.

Picked up DC2 who was a little confused as DH normally does nursery run but fine. Then traffic roadworks home.

Called as shop quickly (it's never quick though is it?!) to get some ice lolly's and other essentials kids a nightmare

Stupid me hadn't factored in they won't have had their 'high tea' as no after school club so starving. We get home I apply another layer of suncream as still boiling battle in itself swim suits on ready for the pool. Thought great I'll get on with tea (I can see them clearly from my kitchen window) Only they don't go near the pool and just moan about how hot they are.

Frantically trying to do tea for everyone and DC2 accidentally poops in the pool 🥴🥴🥴😩 DC1 now decided he must get in it meanwhile I'm loosing my shit whilst detailing with the actual shit and all
The neighbours can hear

Sort that out. Get tea out kids refuse to eat it. Get them up for the bath to settle down as realise maybe a bit much for them all and time is marching on. Pjs on and they announce they are hungry.

Meanwhile I'm absolutely starving having eaten nothing since 12.

I've now pj'd and supper and plonked infront of tv whilst I scoff my freezer tea before attempting bedtime.

Note to self....try and only do one nice thing a day Confused

Much, sympathy. I’ve often joked that in parenting no good deed goes unpunished.

Hope you have a better evening.
