I need to get fit not skinny.

i am on a diet, need to lose 3 stone but what worries me more is my fitness.

i wfh two days and in. Office three. Have fallen into trap of not doing any exercise and being tied to laptop.

i can make time morning s lunchtimes and evenings. Right now, as embarrassing as it is to admit, I get out of breath climbing stairs and if walk over 300m 😢

all my own doing. I’ve never been sporty and always been big. How do I slowly get fit?

Walking, increase this by five minutes a day, and increase your speed. I’m a dog walker, and walk a minimum of five miles a day, but still push myself, walking collies increases my speed!
Yoga, try to make a start with ten minutes a day, increase after a week. Loads of YouTube videos to get you started.
Drink more water. Eat less carbs. Increase protein.
Take it easy, small achievable steps.
Don’t beat yourself up if you mess up a day, just start again.
Good luck x

As PP says start off walking and add a bit more each time. When you are a bit fitter you could try couch to 5k. I know that sounds unlikely at the moment but you will astonish yourself by how much you can improve. You can repeat weeks as often as you like. Something to work towards.

A good stretch in the morning really sets you up for the day. Start really simple.
Before you even get out of bed, raise your (straight) legs as high as you can, slowly one at a time, a few times each.
Then stand up and stretch your arms up high, then lean over to one side and then the other to stretch your waist.
Bend slowly forwards reaching down towards your toes. Don't worry at all if you aren't anywhere near being able to touch them.
And finally swing your (straight) arms in big, slow circles, a few times in each direction.

I'd also highly recommend aqua aerobics. It's very gentle and low impact, the water is really supportive, and therefore it's very popular with bigger people and those new to exercise.

Finally, as others have said, try and have a daily walk. Wear whatever's comfy. Make sure you've got supportive trainers. They don't need to be expensive ones initially (if you progress to long distances or jogging then I'd recommend investing in decent ones) but proper gym/running style trainers as opposed to flat soled fashion/pump types. Take water. Go early or late during hot spell. Take it slowly and just walk for a few minutes, whatever you can manage. And you should find that you can increase your speed and distance quite quickly. Once you get to the point of being able to comfortably and briskly walk for half an hour, that's the point to consider stepping it up a gear. Either following the couch to 5k app or you could try a class such as zumba, spin, body pump... Whatever appeals.

Good luck OP! Keep us posted.

I have been doing Couch to 5k for last few weeks, this week I ran for 25mins and didn’t die. I am 13st (have lost 3st since Jan) Mind over matter, start small. Good luck
