Off to IKEA - what do I need?

On my list are towels and a new picnic blanket.

I will probably also buy some new tumblers as we’ve broken so many recently

But what do I need from IKEA that I don’t even realise I’m missing??

What’s a sock octopus?

I'm so pleased someone asked 😅

Screamingabdabz · 14/06/2025 12:13

Ugh loo brushes (shudders) - nope.

You need clippy glass jars - much better than Kilner ones.
frozen cinnamon buns (if they still do them)
And their brilliant garlic crusher

Ooh thanks all, plenty here I didn’t know I needed. Heading out now so will report back

added to the list:
sandwich bags
plants
possibly pan lids - I have some very old pans from the 365 range which are great

I’m going on Tuesday so I’ve made a few notes. I need some bath mats too

See you in about a week's time when you get back 😀

Cakes, biscuits and desserts.

newtb · 14/06/2025 16:39

Cinnamon buns and an ice cream. Their nut chocolate, horseradish sauce, crispbreads.

I went to IKEA a couple of days ago. I bought a set of Briljera kitchen knives. They are fabulous! I have been looking for some new knives for a couple of years and haven't been able to find any I like until now. They are in the IKEA sale. The set of 3 is reduced from £75 to £45 on the IKEA website but they were only £40 in store (Exetef). No idea why they were cheaper. Highly recommend!

I also bought some Greve cheese, just to see what it is like. I love it! It's like a strong Emmental, delicious! I will definitely be buying more of that.

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 14/06/2025 20:56

Oh I wish I’d seen that about the kitchen knives earlier!

anyway, trip complete. As well as my towels I’ve come home with:

a vase
all the sandwich bags
three blankets
a mandoline
a gadget for opening jars
bag clips
an aloe Vera plant

didnt bother with the socktopus thing, I can never be bothered with hanging up pants and socks. That’s what tumble driers are for.

thanks for all the suggestions

I know everyone raves about this socktpuss and it's great for socks ( obs) knickers and suchlike but do the sell square ones ?
I have a old one that I can't remember where I bought it from but it's great for t-shirt, pot towels, and the usual undies range.
I have bought them from b&m , supermarkets, quality save ect but they break very easily https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/pressa-hanging-dryer-16-clothes-pegs-green-90579157/

They do sell a square one

Did you get dinner, with a slice of Daim cake for pudding? That was the most important thing to buy.

Davros · 14/06/2025 22:55

Mandolin you say? Added to my list

ScottBakula · 16/06/2025 11:56

@PotatoBreadForTheWin , oooh thankyou I didn't know they sold square ones, that's perfect and a very reasonable price too.

thatsthatsaidthemayor · 16/06/2025 11:58

A stainless steel mixing bowl. Bamboo cooking tongs. I break them in half and use them as cooking sticks.
