First ever Easyjet flight - top tips please

I'm going to Tenerife in July and I normally fly long haul on airlines like BA, Emirates etc. but this one is Easyjet short haul. Our tickets include under seat bags and suitcases but I'm flying with another adult so we haven't reserved seats.

I've got the Easyjet app. Tell me anything I might need to know that I haven't thought of, please!

Buy a nice lunch / snacks in the airport as the stuff of the plane is poor.

I’m not sure there’s anything that’s any different to BA otherwise… I mean… it’s only a 4 hour flight.

Be prepared for all the extras (ie food and drinks on the plane) to cost a fortune. EasyJet coast off their expensive extras as their flights are so cheap. Bring your own food and drinks. Make sure your bags are the correct height and size to the T as they’re very picky and will happily ask you to pay a small fortune to upgrade your luggage option.

If it's purely an under-seat bag that's included (and by suitcase you mean a checked in suitcase) then here's the info:

"It can be a maximum size of 45 x 36 x 20 cm (including any handles and wheels) and must be kept under the seat in front of you. That should be enough to bring all the essentials for your journey or for a short trip. Your bag can weigh up to 15kg, but we do ask that you’re able to lift and carry it yourself."

On many routes they do check this using the bag sizer.

If you want to seat together or have specific seats near the front or at a windows/aisle, then book and pay for them. If you don't care where you sit for 4 hours then you'll be assigned a random seat.

Be nice to the crew, they will be landing in Tenerife doing a cabin tidy then boarding passengers and operating the return flight home! Taking your rubbish with you helps them as well.

As others have said make sure your cabin luggage is the right size as they will check. If you like gin they do a cracking on board deal for 2L of Bombay Sapphire

Pay for an exit row seat to get the extra legroom. Get to the airport in Tenerife in good time as it is not big and they seem to control the flow of passengers by keeping people queuing for the bag drop.

Just get on the plane and fly. When you need to come back, get on the plane on the way back.

Book seats if you want to sit together.

I've never had my baggage measured, and I ve been on easy jet a few times.

Sunshineandrainbow · 05/11/2025 22:45

Recently went easy jet. Didn't book seats and we got sat together on way there and back.

Cat1504 · 05/11/2025 22:47

It’s just like any other airline 🤷‍♀️

ChaliceinWonderland · 05/11/2025 22:48

Pay for upfront seats. Card only payments on board.

sunnyhoneybumblebee · 05/11/2025 22:49

I recently traveled with Ryanair one way and easyJet on the way back. I preferred easyJet. Not sure why. They seemed more relaxed about hand luggage possibly. Id book seats - but that’s just personal preference. They are fine

MuthaHubbard · 05/11/2025 22:51

Never pre-booked seats when flying with them and always ended up together. Usually get a meal deal before boarding if needed - stick to cabin baggage sizes (they do random checks now and again) and all good - just like most other airlines

TeenLifeMum · 05/11/2025 22:51

Headphones with music downloaded on your phone. Take snacks. Have fun.

BashfulClam · 05/11/2025 22:52

You will struggle get overhead luggage unless you book it which gives you a seat booking too. It’ll be under seat only unless there is space (unusual). I was travelling hand luggage only and we struggled to get luggage in despite being 5th onto the aircraft as two fuckers had massive cases jammed in. Check in online as soon as it opens and it’s just like BA with orange everywhere and no snack.

SpottyAardvark · 05/11/2025 23:00

We usually buy lunch at Pret airside. Not cheap, but much nicer than the slop EasyJet sell onboard. Make sure your bags comply with their rules. We never bother paying for specific seats.
