ADHD-inattentive

Hi everyone šŸ‘‹

I’m late-diagnosed (47 yrs old) ADHD-Inattentive (and likely AuDHD) — creative type, sensitive, and very cycle-aware. I’m about to start ADHD med titration (atomoxetine suggested), but I also deal with hormonal mood swings, probably PMDD, and have a hormonal coil that’s coming out soon. On HRT with Estrogel and after coil comes out then, also (a more body-identical Progesterone )

I’m torn — I want better focus and energy, but I’m scared of flatness, losing my creativity, or worsening emotional spirals.

Would love to hear from anyone with a similar neurodivergent/hormonal mix — how did meds go for you? Did you wait until things felt more stable, or start anyway?

Diagnosed at 56. On meds for around the last three months. DEFINITELY stabilised my moods but I don’t think there’s ā€œflatnessā€. Gives me the space to focus on the creative tasks I want to do. I wouldn’t class myself as creative but I do enjoy sewing.

hiya, thanks for reacting. Which meds are you on ?They want me to start on Amoxetine, its the non-stimulant. Looking for some info/experiences from people

NICE guidelines suggest that a stimulant medication is the first line and generally more effective than non stimulant

i take elvanse, i was a bit spaced out for a couple of days during titration but otherwise its fine.

Thanks !!
i think for me as a audhd-inattentive, i understand they prescribed atomoxetine. An non stimulant. And a bit gentler than the stimulant varieties.
I wonder whether with the changes going on in my body hormonally speaking, its better to ā€˜wait’ untill the dust settles, and my coil + HRT has gone past its spikes, to introduce a new med into the mix.
Otherwise there is so much going on at once, thatI wouldn’t be able to tell, if that makes sense !
