Bleeding in the middle of my cycle - do I need to go to the GP or can I 'wait and see'?

I'm 31, not currently sexually active, not on any hormonal contraception. I have always had consistent cycles around 33 days in length. I'm currently on day 19 of my cycle and I started bleeding last night. It was a good amount of pink/red blood (so not spotting or old blood) and this morning I'm still bleeding a little. It feels like the start of my period, although I don't have any cramps I still feel a bit bloated like I do on my period. I have had spotting around ovulation once before, I'd say maybe a year ago or so. It was a tiny amount though.

Do I need to go the GP for this one instance of mid-cycle bleeding or should I wait to see if it happens next month? I have been under a lot of stress these past few months. I lost 2 stone at the start of the year from stress and I have been slowly gaining that back, so I have also had weight fluctuations which may be contributing.

As a one off, no, I personally wouldn’t do anything other than wait and see. Sometimes these things happen and there isn’t even an explanation. I once had bleeding that went on for 6 weeks. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Had a referral to the hospital, everything checked out, no obvious cause, it stopped and never happened again. A day of mid-cycle bleeding at ovulation though is totally normal. I noticed I never really got it until I was in my 30s though, so could simply be that you’re getting that now. Are you up to date with your cervical cancer screenings? If not, that’s the only thing I’d sort just for peace of mind, then just keep an eye on it.
