Moving costs

If you have moved house recently, where are you and what was the cost of your professional movers?

Over 20,000 but we moved 3,500 miles.

I moved about 5 minutes from where I previously lived, I paid £509 but was quoted £500-£600.
I was told this was due to the size of van needed. They didn't mention petrol expenses etc but I guess it wasn't a big drive!

Just over £4k we only moved 5 minutes away but had a full 5 bed house with shed and office. This included packing and dismantling and reassembling. We had about 6 quotes, some for over double this amount.
