How shall I treat myself?

I have had a year from hell. Deaths, children in hospital and work stress. I have booked a rare day off on Friday. Nobody knows and it’s the last time I can do it for a while as my child is coming out of hospital. How shall I treat myself? I kind of want to lay on the sofa all day but feel that would be a waste.

any ideas welcome!

I would book myself into a nice hotel, spend the time eating and drinking nice food, have a spa treatment, go for a swim, chill out with snacks. Maybe a walk round the shops

Everyone’s idea of relaxing or a treat is different. Some people love the idea of going on a long trek in nature other would love to order a take away and binge watch a series on the sofa.

The important question is what do you value and like?

A spa day, getting your nails done, a massage, a nice lunch out, painting, reading, shopping?

Buy my favourite snacks and soft drinks and watch telly all day with no phone/distractions.

really hope things get better soon for you

What sort of thing do you usually enjoy? I had a day to myself over Christmas due to work stress and went to a spa for the morning followed by a lovely lunch, then I went into town to treat myself to some new clothes and a coffee in peace.

With the weather being nicer I'd probably consider a nice long walk to clear my head and then sit outside the pub with a glass of wine, lunch and a book. Or perhaps I'd finally go and get my hair done. Whatever you do, I hope you have a lovely day to yourself.

If you want to lie on the couch all day you definitely should! You could pop out for a coffee and pastry first, or order in lunch.

I would get up early and go get a blowdry, walk around the shops, get a coffee somewhere nice and scroll on my phone. Then a back massage, pick up something for lunch and bring it home to eat on the couch or in the garden.

I would have to be out of the house, or I'd do house things.

I would go to the shops TBH, the luxury of being able to browse with no kids being bored and no rush is lovely - I'd go slowly round Ikea and Decathlon, HobbyCraft, big Boots. Not really to buy anything, just to have a mooch and see what's there with no time pressure.

Or maybe one of those sales outlet places, just take the day wandering with no aim.

I would have flotation tank. Then a long book read where I order coffee and cake. Preferably with the view of some nature. I'd also eat out for dinner aswell so that it didn't end with more chores.
Maybe a movie too.

Mine would be something stupid like a big food shop in m&s so the fridge is full, getting my car cleaned, a wash and blow dry, nails, massage, long bath and a takeaway.

I did that. It was nice enough, although no nicer than my bedroom with the heated blanket, eye mask and ear plugs.

And I couldn't get over the thought that everyone else had also been stewing in that water....
