Bus driver

Does anyone think bus drivers can be a bit mean sometimes? So I was running late, saw a bus and thought I will get on that as it will get me there quicker, get on and tap my card but it doesn’t go through (nothing happens at all as in it doesn’t register it not that it goes red) get my phone out same thing happens. Had to get off the bus and walk so ended up being even more late (it was only 3 stops which is also where the bus terminates so not like I was travelling miles but would have got there a lot quicker) I feel like surely the driver should have to let you on if the problem is his machine not my card? Straight after I got on a bus just fine so obviously wasn’t my card

Yes that does seem a bit mean. Usually they just shrug and let you on anyway if it’s their machine not working. I wonder if you were unlucky in that you were the first to have an issue and he hadn’t realised his machine wasn’t working yet. Did he actually ask you to get off the bus?

I’ve had some horrible ones recently. There’s a particular one local to me who barely lets you aboard before he presses to close the doors behind you, he hit me on the shoulder with them and I saw him do it to two other ladies yesterday.

another this week sped through a red light as my son and I were waiting to cross.

So mean and downright dangerous. Another just refused to stop at the stop he was supposed to despite several people ringing the bell and protesting. I’ve complained to TFL with the number plate several times and you should do the same depending on what company are responsible.

A few years ago, a bus driver drove past my teenage son who was waiting at a stop late one night (last bus). Of course I went to pick him up. He had been waving at the bus but the driver just coasted on past. I thought that was incredibly unkind.
