Blood Donation.

I saw on the news yesterday that two hundred thousand new blood donors are required.
The nearest donation site to us is seventeen miles away in August.
Four very local villages used to do donations in village halls but all have stopped.
It seems more donation sites need to be set up and more frequently too.

There's an existing thread about blood donation. I looked for an appointment but the closest ones to me were booked already and I dont want to travel 20 odd miles to go to the main donation centre in Glasgow

It's frustrating isn't it? I live in the Midlands and registered last year when they said they needed more. Despite being O negative and being willing to travel, they cancelled my appointment 3 times before I gave up trying.

It would help if they held the donor sessions in places that were easy for me to get to. I'd happily donate, but as a non- driver relying on public transport, and having mobility issues,I don't really want to have to travel 10 miles on 2 or 3 buses to get there.
