I'm just revamping our menu for the summer and could do with some help please.
So....meze boards, what would you have on it for meat eaters, veggies and vegans.
Or poke bowls, or paninins or salads??
Please throw your ideas at me.
TIA 😊

You're going to need trolleys so the staff can transport this menu the size of War and Peace to customers.

GoldenPineapple15 · 10/06/2025 17:41

Nachos with toppings
cherry and coconut scones
bakewell tart
home made scotch eggs
bacon and cheese turnovers
Freshly made sandwiches with nice bread with a side salad and home made coleslaw.

Plain stuff, I have no idea why people need to fuss food up with ingredients that lots of people don’t like.

Something interesting . I could make a bloody cheese sandwich at home. It's 2025 and we have all the ingredients and recipes of the world at our fingertips.

I love a salad bar in a cafe- having a whole plateful of interesting, delicious salads isn't something you really do at home, because it's loads of work- it works better at scale. With some nice things to add to it- spanakopitta, falafel, focaccia etc.

But OK, I could also eat an all day breakfast. Or a cream tea.

Tiredofwhataboutery · 10/06/2025 17:43

Fresh scones and home made soup. Both really cheap to make and lovely if done well.

Local cafes seem to do a roaring trade in afternoon tea. £20 per person for traybakes, cake, scone and savoury treats.

MoosakaWithFries · 10/06/2025 17:43

Eggs benedict
Spanish eggs
Avo on sourbread with halloumi and a chilli jam
Luxury fluffy pancakes with bacon and maple/yoghurt and berries
Bacon sandwich - thick, smoked bacon

Carrot cake
Polenta cake
Lemon drizzle
Brownies/blondes
Scone, clotted cream and jam

MoosakaWithFries · 10/06/2025 17:44

Oh, and a nice quiche. Quiche Lorraine and perhaps something like feta and spinach.

Cheerfulcharlie · 10/06/2025 17:44

I am gluten free and love a baked potato.! Maybe sour cream and chive for summer with a lovely side salad. Or gluten free sour dough with avocado or scrambled egg. A really good quality nicoise salad would be a winner with me too.

Tripthelightfantastical · 10/06/2025 17:45

Really nice salads not drenched in greasy dressings or mayonnaise.
Homemade quiche with crispy pastry
Lovely soup in a big bowl with sourdough bread
Bakewell tart or carrot cake

All day breakfast including smaller serving
Bacon/sausage sandwich
Teacakes or scones and jam (couple of choices)
Pain au Chocolat or croissant and really nice coffee
Ham and cheese toastie, just cheese toastie
Brie, cranberry sauce and bacon toastie
Tuna and cucumber sandwich
BLT, hot or cold
Chicken salad
Cheese savoury - I don't think I have ever seen this outside the north east but it makes a great jacket potato topping as well as sandwich filling
Small steak or chicken pie with salad or chips
Burger and chips (beef or veggie)
Few nice choices of tea - breakfast, Assam, decaff (it's so hard to get decaff tea in a cafe), green, peppermint, lemon and ginger, hot chocolate, mocha
Few coffee options
Nice cold drinks - depending on your price point, Fentimans or Belvoir or local company? As well as Coke or Pepsi, Fanta etc
Definitely jacket potatoes, plain or with a couple of topping choices
And then a few nice cakes - carrot cake, lemon drizzle, scones, custard slice, eclairs

cantthinkofausername26 · 10/06/2025 17:51

Soup
Welsh rarebit
homemade sausage rolls
homemade cakes

coxesorangepippin · 10/06/2025 17:54

Quiche, salad baked potato

Homemade cake, a massive wedge of it

Ariela · 10/06/2025 17:55

Poached or scrambled eggs on toast, using really nice bread, butter not spread, half a grilled tomato and a sprig of parley, with optional extras eg avocado/smoked salmon/mushrooms/sauces as required (I dislike sauces on anything)

ShinySquirrel · 10/06/2025 17:55

I go to a local cafe regularly and always order their Eggs Benedict on sourdough. It feels like a real treat.

I also get a flavoured iced latte and would love a better selection of sugar-free syrups other than the standard three of hazelnut, vanilla, and caramel.

MayaPinion · 10/06/2025 17:56

Croque monsieur/madame
Fish finger sandwiches
Bacon sandwiches
avo toast and poached eggs
waffles
muffins with no goo in (except lemon)
Good sausage
Posh full English
Steak sandwich
pizza toast (like Welsh rarebit but with pizza sauce)

Icedcaramelfrappe · 10/06/2025 18:02

If you are near the sea, anything with crab in it

TENSsion · 10/06/2025 18:05

I love a cup of tea and a toasted tea cake

FlightCommanderPRJohnson · 10/06/2025 18:05

As long as you sell Coronation Chicken baguettes, I'm good.

ParrotsAteThemAll · 10/06/2025 18:21

A proper cheese and onion quiche. I hate when places try to overly fancify a quiche by putting seeds/feta cheese/balsamic glazed onions! No, just a decent home cooked cheese (cheddar) and onion (white) quiche.

Lindajonesjustcantlivemylife · 10/06/2025 18:23

Flat white, slice of ginger cake.

Walkbyall · 10/06/2025 18:28

Flat white and almond croissant - dusted with plenty of almond paste. Fresh pressed orange juice.

jacket potato, cottage cheese and smoked salmon.

dark chocolate and hazelnut brownie.

homemade cheese pie, chips and peas.

cherry pie and ice cream
