So, I need to log into my gov.uk gateway account for a pension forecast as I’m almost at that age. Unfortunately I’ve forgotten my password so my ID needs confirming (fair enough)
My driving licence is fine as one of the ID options (they need 2) but it won’t accept my passport as it’s still in my previous name. I only got married last year, and haven’t changed my passport as my husband is terminally ill and we are highly unlikely to be travelling abroad. The cost to change it is £94.50.
The only other 2nd option to confirm my ID is to answer a series of questions about when I last opened a mail order account, last applied for a personal loan etc etc (about 6 similar type questions) I failed to get all of the answers right (who even remembers these things??)
Is my only option to fork out £94.50 for a passport I don’t need and won’t use?
I tried messaging them for help but just got a standard reply referring me to passport renewals!
