Do you do anything petty at work? Honestly?

When I applied for my job, I asked for Monday to Thursday.

They have given me Monday to Wednesday- AND Friday.
They said they'd take me off the Friday as soon as was possible.
It's been 18 months and they haven't. It's also the late shift which means I do not get a Friday evening (well, past 20:00 when I finish).

I am hardworking usually and have no qualms about working over my usual time to get things done or help someone but on a Friday I set my alarm on my 'phone to go off at 20:00 and I log out immediately.

Small thing-makes me feel a little better.

I take my lunch to the minute it's unpaid and not noticed if you work during it I leave the work area too so no ooh quick question, can you just, you couldn't just quickly could you. No I couldn't.

no I don't want to join in whip rounds for somebody I don't know from Adams baby. I wish them a great birth and experience but I do not intend to spend money on it.

Finishing work when you're supposed to finish work isn't petty, it's normal.

No I don't do anything petty, but neither do I martyr myself to my job.

I used to totally martyr myself-but it was all due to my Mother who is a big business woman, very successful, who taught me that 'going above and beyond' gets people noticed and appreciated and promoted. It may have worked for her but by the time I entered the workforce things were very different.I won't do it now as an older adult. I am not paid enough. Having said that, ordinarily I don't mind at all if I finish a few minutes late, or stay behind twenty minutes to help someone with a complicated matter. But on a day I didn't choose to work in the first place, they do not get 100% of me now.

I hate all that stuff too. And the pretending to be very caring and lovey with people I seldom know which is the general culture where I work 'We're all a family!' Nope. I will be polite, I am friendly and personable with other staff, but that's it.
