Is it just me or does the MN site formatting keep changing?!

Posting in chat because I’m not sure where else to put this.

At some point a few months ago all the thread pages disappeared and every one became an endless un-navigable scroll of comments.

Then the pages came back 🥳.

Now they’ve gone again and I’m back in the endless hell of ‘Load Newer/Older Posts’.

And suddenly a couple of days ago one of the ‘react’ emojis (funny) has disappeared.

WTF is going on? How do I get page numbers back? Where’s the little lol face?!

Fully prepared to accept I may be the only one struggling with this schizzle, but any help appreciated.

I can't help you OP, but yes I too have noticed the same issue.
There was a thread, maybe more than that, last week about the disappearing laughing emoji, got a lot of reaction both negative and positive.
I feel overall imho, that things have changed in the nature of the posts and even in the people who are posting since last winter.

I agree. Been here a long time (13 or 14 years at least, under different user names) and the atmosphere lately, even on lighthearted threads, seems to have got a lot more hostile.

But I still don’t understand what deleting the laugh emoji is meant to achieve?

Thanks for the info, will try to find that thread.

I think the gist of the positive and negative posts regarding the 😂 was that there were those who truly missed it as a way of expressing their appreciation for a poster's humourous post, and there were those who defended the use of it to express a non-public criticism directed to a someone for having expressed an opinion that differed from theirs.
Then there were those who were glad it was gone, didn't see the point of it except to be used against someone who had a different opinion on a post, and how badly it made them feel to receive this dig from another poster.
The consensus is that MN must have received quite a few complaints about the negative use of the laughing emoji and just decided to eliminate it.

Aah, thanks. A bit bloody ridiculous though - especially when it’s turning into as much of a zoo on here as everywhere else and you need a tin hat to post in the first place, so I can’t imagine being so over sensitive that I’d be butt hurt by someone responding with a laugh emoji. But hey ho.

Just need to find out where the pages have gone now …
