Please help me … my son’s 5th birthday party consists of 28 mixed gender friends.

I’m asking if something exists that’s not a sweet cone and not a bag of plastic stuff that gets binned BUT doesn’t cost the earth for a party favour?!

we are having a piñata that will consist of both sweets and toys so trying to avoid those that they’ll take away .,, of course will also have cake.

A book? You can get 10 for £10 in the Works and cheap sets in Costco

Etsy has sensory play doh tubs, personalised crayons (such as names of each child), moulds to paint

Is there a theme to the party? You could get something linked to that or something they do that they take home such as make a bracelet

Nothing.
People already spend abnormal amounts of money on childrens birthdays.

If you must get somwthing buy a bag of beans, plastic cups and a bag of soil and let them plant a bean on party and take it home.
Entertainment plus gift.

Also seeds for a plant

in a charity shop today I saw some little pots that you add water to, to grow grass (like hair on the pot). They were just over £1

You can get bath bombs with things in them, like a dinosaur or beetle. The works do 10 books for £10. Hobbycraft currently have a huge selection of kid’s stuff. https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/kids/kids-offers/?prefn1=STATUS&prefv1=Kids%20Summer%20Toys&srule=price-low-to-high
a little plant pot with sunflower seeds, or cress seeds, or that fern that closes up when you touch it. Or you could buy a few packets of seeds, mix them up and put them in a paper bag and call it a butterfly garden, with instructions to sprinkle them. A bag of marbles (Pound Fun do them for £1 a bag), Crayola chalks (£1 from Pound Fun) and instructions for how to draw a Hopscotch run. Bubbles (never met a kid that doesn’t give a shit about bubbles).
