ASD assessment process help

My 9year old is in the process of a ASD assessment. Referred almost 3 years ago and last year has initial telephone appointment. She just had a medical assessment today (not at a hospital) with a doctor,he said he will now send his evidence/opinion to the board and I will have to wait for an update. He also suggested that what he sees is autism and he thinks my concerns/thoughts are right. He also stated that he doesn’t think there will be a need for any school observations as we/he have provided a lot of evidence.I’m slightly confused as to what happens next as the “next steps” on the appointment letter state that after a medical assessment there is another face to face assessment(I’m assuming at hospital). Will my child need another assessment? How long does it take from now until a diagnosis? He covered everything in this appointment that the face to face appointment covers anyway? Any advice/experiences would be greatly appreciated 👍

I think it depends on the service. My children had an ADOS assessment as part of their assessment process, where they had to complete certain tasks. Not every service uses the ADOS. It sounds like your DD perhaps saw a developmental paediatrician.
