I'm going on holiday on Wednesday. I was going to dye my hair in the hope I won't look in my 90s. But I just read this chlorine can make it go green. Fade etc . That's for permanent and semi.

I also had a brain wave to do reverse perm so my hair his straight for a longer period of time.

So now sure what to do because of timing. And the haot going green and not sure I can even do both.

To note : i can't do it via hair dressers. I'm not using hair straighteners. As a one of I will if I do reverse perm. There are reasons for this but it's to much to go into.

Also if I go for a copper color will is look orange in the white parts of my hair

Colour your hair by all means but you can't use colour and a straightner!

You have wave in your hair so you need to either straighten it (which you dont want to do) or use products to help straighten it - I like tresmme keratin smooth products. The alternative is to bring out the curl using a curl spray or a beach spray. The cheap option is to dissolve salt (teaspoon) in a cup of warm water. For both curl and sea sprays you then scrunch and twirl until you get the curl you want, then let it dry naturally.

I only recently found out my wave was actually a real curl when I went to Vidal Sassons Academy for a cut. I now mix between straight and curly hair. Give it a whirl.

As others have said get a really good hair cut - may be a bob which is trendy and the hairdresser will take into account the colour and texture of your hair. Ask for a wash and go style. If you don't like going to the hairdresser get a home visit. Use a good conditioner too before you go and all week while you are away. This will transform your look.

I'm all sorted now 👍

If you really don't want to go to a hairdresser, I used a thing to cut my own during lockdown that's like a big clip with a spirit level.

Google crea clip. You can get versions of them on Amazon for a couple of quid. It's curly so will hide a lot of sins.

It actually worked pretty well and no one could tell the difference - although that's probably a sign I have rubbish hair even when professionally cut!

I took a bit more of. I'm going to leave it now because I cant really see what I'm doing . I can't rescue it if i go to short 😅

That looks fabulous, you've done a really good job. Looks so healthy now.

So could I just do they dye part of it . Because even if I just forget the straightening side of it I could at least try get rid of that great/white bit.

And thank you . This bit feels harder because it feels much more personal 😓

Edited

Honestly, I didn't notice the grey but I did notice the poor condition. If you do just one thing before you go use some deep conditioning masks. You can also mist your hair with Argan oil before going in the pool to block the chlorine because swimming will only worsen the condition if you don't. Shampoo it out afterwards but use lots of conditioner as well. I hope you feel better about yourself soon. Are you getting help?

You cant use perming solution within a week of colouring your hair(hairdresser told me this once when i wanted perming and colouring before wedding.had to do separate.) So colouring with coppercolour would prob be ok, IF YOU DO IT NOW- i dye copper all the time- BUT,some of the parts where its on grey can look a bit ginger rather than copper but it looks ok, bit like its had highlights through.

Op your hair looks lovely, you did a great job with the cut and colour. I hope you have a fabulous holiday.
Just as an aside I wondered if you’d thought about getting your bloods checked as lack of hair growth can be a sign of low vitamin b12 which can be due to something called pernicious anemia (can be due to other causes too). There are a myriad of other symptoms such as overwhelming tiredness, anxiety, depression, forgetting words, balance issues etc (check the list on the pernicious anaemia website). If left untreated it can cause permanent health problems. Just thought I’d mention it, not meaning to worry you as it’s easily treated x

In that case definitely worth asking your gp for a blood test. Pernicious anaemia is very different to the more common red blood cell anaemia and can be very debilitating. Make sure not to take any over the counter vitamin b12 for at least 3 months before the blood test as it will skew the results
