coragem

That 3rd letter is an 'r' in properly formed cursive script.

Chersfrozenface · 06/06/2025 04:22

And Google tells me it's Portuguese for 'courage'.

Yes, I googled too.

I posted as I was confused as the artist posted it with the caption 'courage' without any reference to Portuguese and I just couldn't see how it said Courage.

Mystery solved!

Clawdy · 06/06/2025 09:54

Coragem. Wondered if it was a blend of two names - Cora and Gemma!

countingthedays945 · 06/06/2025 09:55

Colagen? Is that something to do with enhancers?

Coragem
that’s lovely now I know the meaning

IfYouPutASausageInItItsNotAViennetta · 06/06/2025 10:01

I'd have said cottager, but spelled a but oddly.

Growlybear83 · 06/06/2025 10:03

It very clearly says coragem - I’m not sure how anyone sees it as anything different.

I think, if this were a Portuguese language site, it would be obvious; but to most English speakers who are not familiar with Portuguese - especially if they see somebody in an English-speaking country with the tattoo - they would go from their own frame of reference.

It's probably just me, but I don't like arty, flowy, potentially ambiguous fonts - good clear block printing for me every time!

Im not a fan of tattoo quotes.
But if you like who cares.

Yes, I agree. But it was posted as 'courage' without any references to Portuguese so I was confused!

I didn’t mean that the meaning of the word was obvious - I didn’t realise it was a word in a foreign language and assumed it was someone’s name. I meant that I couldn’t understand how some people were reading the letter R as an L when it’s just the traditional style of writing that people were always taught to use in the past.
