Butlins Big Weekender - what to pack and wear?

Been persuaded to go to Butlins Big Weekender. Can anyone advise what I should definitely pack? What should I wear?
I don't really like fancy dress but get it's a big thing for these weekends

Thank you!

DH went to one on a stag do and he wore a onesie one night and said it was the hottest thing ever and he really struggled. So I’d probably suggest stuff that isn’t too warm to wear. 😁

Does it have a theme?

makingthecut · 05/06/2025 15:37

Which weekender?

minnienono · 05/06/2025 15:40

They vary, only one I went to was 90’s themed and people wore whatever, though lots of dm’s and a woman way too large to wear something so short, i didn’t want to see your thong in that Union flag dress of Gerry halliwells.

Dungarees, ecstacy and paracetamol.

Some people will be in fancy dress but I never bothered when I went to some weekenders. Jeans, dresses, trainers, DMs. It’s pretty hot in the venues so you don’t want to be too bundled up.

I went a couple of weeks ago, it’s very hot inside, we were wearing onesies 🙈 a few years ago we did jeans, vest top and hi-viz jackets, cheap and cheerful.

Literally everyone wears fancy dress on the Saturday night. Does your group have a fancy dress theme? Just go with something simple if you don’t want to wear a full on fancy dress costume. My friends often go to charity shops to buy things or SHEIN for a cheap dress - we’ve done pirates, police, school girls, or easily recognisable individuals like cruelly de ville, Addams family characters, super hero’s/villains, scooby doo etc … loads of choices on Amazon.
the rest of the weekend take going out clothes, jeans and hoodies as it’s cold! Take
some basic food if you’re not doing the all inclusive as the ahop is basic and expensive IIRC and if you find it hard to sleep, ear plugs!
