MandM Direct is it a scam site?

I've come across the m and m direct website whisky looking for some shoes. It seems too good to be true and reviews on trustpilot are a mixed bag with a sprinkling of comments implying it is a scam site.

So I am undecided- has anyone used it?

I haven’t shopped there for a few years now, I found them ok until I ordered a few pairs of shoes in a certain brand, exact same size and style that I usually buy from Schuh, but when they arrived none of them fit. So that was weird. Had to pay to return them and haven’t shopped here since.

Another frequent user here for a lot of years. Never been disappointed. I feel it's a bit like where Sports Direct off loads last seasons stuff! There are definite bargains and great for school sports and school coats etc.

Here's some tips that I use for spotting whether a website is legit or not. Check the about us page for in-depth information, social pages to see if there's recent posts, search Google for recent and mostly positive reviews and also Google News for the brand name. This is usually a good indicator if a business is big enough to be trustworthy.

Mandm has been around since 1987 according to the about us page.
They explain that they source mostly last season's stock in a blog thingy here and keep prices low as they are online only.
They have a 4.4 rating on TrustPilot from 107,000 reviews. 80% are 5 star so it suggests you have an 8/10 chance of everything being okay.
The social networks linked at the bottom of the page look like they get interaction and post recently.
If you check Google news it looks like they sponsor Hereford and St Johnstone football clubs.

I used to get their sports catalogues about 20 years ago and have bought running shoes in the last 5-6 years, so I can vouch they've been around for a while.

Definitely not a scam site.

SCAM NO PHONE NUMBER TO CONTACT, MESSAGING IS A BOT WHICH THEY NEVER REPLY TOO, FB PAGE WHEN COMMENTING INUNDATED WITH SCAMMERS TRYING TO GET YOUR INFO.. STEER CLEAR!! ORDERED BOOTS WHICH BROKE WITHIN 8 WEEKS BUT NOONE GETS BACK TO ME. COMPLETELY DODGY.

They are crap!!!

I ordered a pair of ££ deck shoes and got sent a cheap pair of Skechers. Absolute pain in the ass to get through to customer services and a faff to return. I did get a refund but would never use them again.

We’ve used it a lot with no problems at all. Buy a returns label when you order (we usually buy a couple of sizes)

No it's a good site, partner buys loads of his clothes and shoes on it. Have had some bargains

We use it for all the kids school shoes and pay for the yearly delivery because of this. If anything doesn’t fit we simply reorder in the correct size and ask for a shipping label so we can return the wrong stuff. It’s quick delivery, easy and very useful for us.

I’ve used it multiple times since 2020 - mainly to buy trainers, jackets and exercise stuff. I’ve liked all my purchases from there. Not a scam site.
