Recommendations for a short seaside break?

I need go take my 12 year old away for a mid-week break by the sea, we live in the Midlands and are pretty landlocked so any suggestions welcome!

What about Llandudno? Plenty to do and lots of places to travel to close by like Conwy

Filey in Yorkshire it’s really quite a sweet old fashioned seaside town or Scarborough for something bigger.

The north Norfolk coast. Hunstanton if you want cheesy, Wells-Next-the-Sea if you want middle class and twee.

Whereabouts in the Midlands? If you’re in say Birmingham it’s fairly easy to get to places like Aberdyfi/Aberdocey as there’s a direct train but if you’re in Nottingham then Mid Wales would take an age to get to.

Do you want beauty or flashing lights OP?

Another vote for Filey in North Yorkshire, charming and not overly developed. Lovely beach, The Coble Landing, places to go crabbing, superb fish and chips and very clean water. I am a huge fan.

Thanks everyone, will start looking. We have been to Tenby before, Norfolk sounds good as never been.

Norfolk beaches are huge and beautiful, lots of them are unspoilt. There’s lots of nice villages to stay in. Wells next the Sea, Cromer, Sherringham, Holt are good. Good area for crabbing and boat trips to see seals. The seals join you for a swim sometimes!

Just to say in case it helps anyone in the future, and to offer thanks, we went to Filey and it was just beautiful. Peaceful and quiet and beautiful beaches. Really recommend it.
