My mother in law is losing her marbles.she has a hearing aid she won’t wear. Yesterday we went to see her and our 6 month old was eating cucumber slices. MIL started jigging her around so much baby gagged and then chocked. Mil wouldn’t give baby to me and kept shoving her nicotine fingers down baby throat. I shoved her hands away and grabbed my baby back and did back slaps until food came out. M I l cried and said I’m a bully that I didn’t let her deal “with it”. Please tell me I’m not the shit they are all telling me I am?!

ugh, you never shove your fingers down the throat of someone choking. Also jiggling a baby around when they’ve just started to eat solids is a stupid thing to do. Perhaps suggest she does a baby first aid course?

Somehow it doesn't sound likely that you're MIL would take a first aid course specializing in infant and children, but if she ever did, make sure that she has hearing aids that are working properly, and that are comfortable for her to wear.
Hearing loss is a significant risk factor in developing dementia.
The more severe the hearing loss the higher the chance of this happening.
If you really meant that you think your MIL is losing her marbles, you might want to look into that.
In the meantime you'll have to keep hold of your young DC and especially around her, learn to anticipate any problems before they happen.
