Lovely day of food ahead, what are you eating today?

After a few weeks of eating down the fridge and freezer I have a very decadent Sunday of food ahead and I can't wait.

Breakfast was toast with clover and a ginger nut biscuit while reading the waitrose free magazine.

This afternoon after a few hours work we are having lamb rump with roast and mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, asparagus and gravy.

Followed by key lime pie which is my absolute favourite dessert and I can never normally find it but they had it in waitrose yesterday.

Then tonight I plan on watching both the new episode of And Just Like That and The Handmaid's Tale with some spicy leftover chicken curry with patatha for supper and some nice dry rose wine. Might even throw in a curly wurly.

I also plan on a little walk, some decluttering and a few chapters of my book.

What is everyone else eating and up to today?

Sound lovely. Just had Tesco delivery ready for the school week. Off to gym in a bit. Washing the bedding. Collect parcel from next. Watch code of silence tonight.

Planned chicken stir fry for our meal.

Long dog walk - about 90 minutes. After DDs and I had a bacon and cheese roll each for breakfast from a coffee shop about 45 minutes away. DDogs shared 2 rolls between the four of them. Coffee for me, hot chocolates for DDs.

Then home. DDs are currently doing their homework whilst I make them decadent chocolate brownies (500g of chocolate goes into it...no chocolate powder or cacoa at all...so these are, naturally, super healthy) for when they're done.

Lunch is cold meats (we get a huge DukesHill order once a month, of beef, ham and pork pies etc cook up the bits that need cooking, cut everything up, freeze it and then have it for lunches and salads). Then we'll probably watch LOTR this afternoon (we do a movie every Sunday) and eat popcorn.

Then another dog walk before showers ahead of work/school tomorrow. Dinner is homemade Chinese beef and broccoli noodles. It's my absolute favourite. Then we'll probably watch Beyond Paradise.

Pretty standard Sunday for us; dog walks, movies, baking, homework and then dinner.

Waitrose key lime pie is amazing and I love a good roast - I am super jealous, OP. I can't do roasts really unless DH is about as DDs aren't big fans so I end up doing a separate meal for them and roast for one is just an insane amount of cooking...

Takeaway pizza for tea tonight.

Youngest is off to America for 2 months on Wednesday, so he’s getting his orders in now.

I did him bangers and mash last Thursday, as he loves my mash and put his order in. 😁

Berries and yogurt for breakfast today, and quiche/beetroot/coctial sausages with salad for lunch. Roast gammon shank for dinner tonight which both DC love. I am considering taking them for an ice cream this afternoon.

Key lime pie is super easy to make OP if you struggle to find it.

Roast chicken which has been brined overnight. Cauli cheese, roasties, carrots, peas, crunchy stuffing balls and tenderstem broccoli with lots of gravy.

Dessert will either be plum clafoutis or rhubarb from the garden in a crumble or tarte tatin.

I’m preparing for a two-day festival in my religion where we are instructed by our holy books to eat dairy produce 😁

I’ve just put a cheesecake in to cook, and have made a potato gratin plus a spinach and feta quiche. About to make some feta bourekas.

i may or may not have sampled some grilled halloumi earlier in the day…

OverpricedCupcake · 01/06/2025 12:26

I was out last night and brought a double quarter pounder and chips home with me so today is salad, chicken, hummous etc, then plain yoghurt and fruit.
V boring, but post menopause and I just can't eat the way I used to.

Sounds fab, and what a lovely thread.
I had jam on toast for breakfast, a special request from my three year old, and felt like a three year old myself 🤣
Dinner is a roast cooked by my mum, she’s a brilliant cook and it’s roast beef which is my favourite, and she’s made both a lemon cheesecake and an apple crumble for afters so I’m very happy.
I expect tea will be some sort of salad; leaves, cucumber, peppers, tomatoes, grated carrot, picked onions, bit of ham, bit of cheese, bit of coleslaw… clear the fridge out a bit!

Sourdough toast with salted butter and a Nespresso cappuccino for breakfast.

Cold udon noodles with Japanese goma (sesame) dressing for lunch.

Cold Japanese somen noodles with tsuyu sauce, topped with finely sliced omelette and shredded spring onions, ginger, carrots and cucumber.

PiggyPigalle · 01/06/2025 12:39

Waitrose cottage cheese salad again, but it is working. Only highlight on it is artichoke hearts, until I go shopping tomorrow.

Re doing my little place, so the rooms are full of huge boxes.
It feels like a kid's toy, the one where you keep sliding letters around to make words, but I'm doing it with boxes.
The only thing I miss about a man in the house, is brute strength.

Started watching Fool me Once on Netflix. It's better than I expected, so shall finish that this evening.

Thank you, I am a terrible baker/dessert maker so worry it would be rubbish haha

I had a sausage sandwich with malted seed bread and mustard this morning, it was delicious! I've got some soft white bread rolls proving so going to bake them this afternoon 😋 don't know about dinner yet but I think I'll do something quick and easy so I can put my feet up and veg and watch Sunday night tv 😊

What time are you eating? I will have finished my chores by then. Your food is definitely my taste.

Yummm 😋

I’m away for work this coming week very unexpectedly (found out Friday) so I’m working my way through all the fresh fruit/veg with gusto - everything else got whacked in the freezer!

Huge Greek salad for breakfast, plus a couple of pears.

Just eaten a bowl of sweet potato wedges, roasted carrots and cherry tomatoes with blitzed yogurt/herbs as a dip and pomegranate seeds

Plane food for dinner tonight, plus I’d imagine a healthy amount of Cadburys to keep me company. might also get some lounge food, but right now I’m 97% vegetable and not sure I can face it 😂

troppibambini6 · 01/06/2025 13:16
