Hi all, we're gearing up to doing this next week with our 2 year 8 month year old....any practical tips? We have a book about the dummy fairy we have been reading, been talking about it a bit (not too much). Should we save it for the weekend, or do it when she's in nursery so more distracted? She asks for the dummy more at home. She has picked out a toy she would like. The first night does she put the dummies on a box herself, or do we try to retrieve them when she's asleep?? I'm probably overthinking this, but really wanting it to work and be as stress free as possible!

DS put the dummies into a sort of mesh gift bag himself before bedtime (he only used them at night and put them outside the front door with a note (I think I wrote and he signed), and in the morning was a very cool present in exchange with an approving not from the dummy fairy saying how grown up he was getting.

Or something like that. Was completely straightforward. He never asked for a dummy again.

we tried the dummy fairy idea. I can’t remember what she thought about it at the time but if she’s keen that the fairy will leave her a toy then go for it. We said the dummy was broken. Cut a hole in all of them- but also put vinegar on them. A little!!! Just so she could understand they went ‘bad’ and threw them in the bin. She didn’t want it after going in the bin. I seem to remember it being on the weekend so that by the time nursery came she was distracted. I think she asked a few times at the start but said they’ve all gone bad now. Oh well- let’s play a game.
