1 year old gastroenteritis day 10 vomiting

I posted the other day about this but my baby doesn’t seem to be getting better after a bad tummy bug. Doctor says it’s Gaestro & spent last weekend in a&e as he wouldn’t keep anything down. Today he finally
got his appetite back again so he had a bit more to eat, and tonight he’s vomiting and inconsolable again.

Does anyone have any tips? How long should I give him bland food for? And is it normal to last this long?! I’m a desperate mum who has barely slept for 10 days. Thank you

I'd take him back to a and e personally

I'd be back in a&e and not moving until he had other checks and it was definitely confirmed it was gastro. Has anyone else in the family had it?

what did he eat? Sometimes they can be I tolerant to dairy for a while after a bug. I don’t think I’d go to a&e but I’d definitely get him seen again at ooh or gp.

Go back to a&e. With my DD a few years back, the Dr said sometimes their tummies can go in spasm and they need an antisickness by this point. Once your LO has that, they sound like they'll be fine xx

It shouldn't last that long.
Is he weeing lots? Hydration is top concern.

Thank you everyone. So last weekend they have us a dose of anti sickness called ondanzetron on Saturday, it lasted about 6 hours till he was sick again. Then on Sunday they have us a prescription for it & we gave it 3 times a day for 2 days. It did work that time but his tummy cramps were so bad that he was still in a lot of pain despite paracetamol & anti sickness.

we also had an ultrasound to check for a thing called interssusception, which came back clear at the time. And he’s since been able to keep some solids down. Although nobody else in the family has had it. They also checked for UTI which came back clear.

He is weeing regulwrly and more since vomiting became less regular. He’s still breastfed so that seems to have kept him hydrated enough and blood sugars up. He’s also dairy free due to CMPA.

Think it will be another a&e trip today….

I'm glad they checked for intussusception because that's what my son had, though he was 8 and it took them far too long to check for it because it isn't as common with older children.

Poor thing, I hope he's feeling better soon.
