Am I missing something re the Liverpool driver who caused the injuries

Worryabouteverything · 31/05/2025 17:03

My prayers are with the injured and I hope they all make a full recovery and justice for their injuries.

What I don't understand is that the photo the police have released is of a bald headed man. Yet the court artist has drawn a picture and he had a lot of hair which is described as going grey.
Is the photo released from years ago and he's had a hair transplant.

OP posts:

Yes, you’re missing that a huge number of people wanted him to be anything but white british. Now that he isn’t, their tiny brains can’t compute so it’s all AI images, conspiracies etc.

The Southporth killer didn’t look at trial like he did in the images in the media, did he?

You'll be saying it's fake news which a lot of people on SM were doing when they found it the driver wasn't the skin colour they wanted him to be

You do realise you deciding that the OP is saying something she hasn't said is as problematic as people deciding it's fake news as it doesn't fit with their story. You just created a version of your own story and making assumptions, with people piling on to agree with you. This is how fake news gets started!

There were lots of people there, if they’ve got the wrong man someone who saw him driving would say, I presume he is also registered to the car.

The whole thing is weird though, I hope we get to find out why he did it because it just makes no sense.

I once got caught in my car outside a football stadium just as all the fans started leaving and some hit the car, it wasn’t pleasant but I just sat there for a bit until the crowd cleared.

It makes no sense that a man who followed right wing misogynistic racists online deliberately tailgated an ambulance to drive at crowds in a violent targeted attack? What are you struggling to understand about that? He’s a bastard. Are you possibly struggling because he’s not the skin colour you’d prefer him to be?

I'm not hoping the person who did this was from a different culture.
The video of the attack was on FB so we knew he was white.
I was just asking a question but as usual on MN people make up a story to fit their Idea.
I didn't realise that it wasn't the police who posted the photo.
It is a very strange case.

"Just asking questions". That old excuse.

Snorlaxo · 31/05/2025 18:12

It’s standard practice for media to look at social media for photos (another reason to be selective about photos online )

MammaTo · 31/05/2025 18:13

What part are you confused about?

Feelingstrange2 · 31/05/2025 18:14

Supima · 31/05/2025 17:49

No

Fair enough then. Let's wait for the evidence.

AInightingale · 31/05/2025 18:14

I daresay the police are as baffled as anyone else. It took them days to charge him.

But of course he's the driver, he was taken from the car in front of hundreds of witnesses, bundled into a police van and driven away. I can't understand that speculation. Plus a neighbour recognised the car, and knew him.

He seems to have more than one alias on social media which is probably driving the frenzy. Probably just a bit of an odd character, and who knows if he dabbles in drugs? Appearances can be deceptive.

The people saying this on my Twitter people are ge really the same people who have problems with clouds.

This is why Twitter is now unusable. I'm surprised sane people still use it.

This.
Makes me sick the amount of people who are shouting "fake news, it's a cover up!" or actually making excuses for him.
"He must have had a breakdown" "aw, must have panicked" "maybe he has PTSD" (actual comments I saw)
Would there fuck be all this excusing him if he wasn't white.

ShellieAnn · 31/05/2025 18:16

They are probably photos taken from an old social media profile. He doesn't look 54 on the photos in the media. So likely his hairstyle has changed.

Endiof · 31/05/2025 18:19

People shouldn't be speculating

The police have said it’s not terror related, that’s what makes no sense. I’m well aware terrorists can be white, thank you.

I recall when that lady had a psychotic episode and stabbed a little girl to death on the park.

Loads of people on here were defending her, we weren’t allowed to say anything negative about her because it wasn’t her fault at all and we should have sympathy. Whilst I appreciate that she had a psychotic episode and may have not been fully in control, people seemed to have more sympathy for her than for the parents who watched their girl be stabbed to death, which I failed to understand then and still don’t fully fathom now.

And I say this as someone who has severe mental health issues.

TalkToTheHand123 · 31/05/2025 18:27

The video is of a man with a shaved head. The sketch of the man in court a couple of days later is of a man with hair which would take months to grow.

Arrested yes, but not charged. They are different.

ElliotNess · 31/05/2025 18:41

Fucking give over, will you. 🙄

Serencwtch · 31/05/2025 18:47

Well they arrested him at the scene so 100% they have the right man!

I think if you go looking for a bullshit conspiracy theory online you will certainly find one.

The image wasn't released by the police - the media dug it up so could be his social media profile that he hasn't updated.

Lots of men shave their heads, wear wigs, dye their hair. Why on earth does it matter?

ScrewedByFunding · 31/05/2025 18:39

The charges are public knowledge they were listed when he appeared in court on Friday morning.
It's common for the charges to change from point of arrest to charge once they've been interviewed & looked at evidence.

There is no charge at the point of arrest. The charges come later when cps have reviewed the evidence in a case. And for the love of god stop speculating.

I'm literally trying to put a stop to the speculation by stating the facts. Someone is arrested 'on suspicion of X,Y,Z' based on limited evidence at the scene, which is then obviously reviewed following interview & evidence. The charges are often very different from the initial arrest. That's completely normal & definitely no conspiracy it's just how the law operates.
There's people determined to find a conspiracy in anything. There really isn't one here.

I'm responding to the whole quote thread that seems to be whipping up a conspiracy where there isn't one.

No conspiracy it's just how the justice system works.
