Neighbours from hell and it’s getting worse

KaliJones · 30/05/2025 19:01

Since they moved in last year my neighbours have been hellish every day, loud music drugs parties screaming kids motorbikes feral aggressive dogs dog poo rubbish antisocial behaviour you name it they’ve done it. No one give a toss. Noise app, council, environmental agents, enforcement agents, multiple letters calls threats with court, they are still doing this. I am not the only neighbour complaining.

Their kids are horrendous and have regularly been out until 11pm at night screaming and shouting, they’re only young as well. Well now they have a bouncy castle, and not a one off one, a permanent always freaking there bouncy castle. The noise it makes is abhorrent and the noise they make is even worse. Honestly it’s like a bad joke, what can they do next to piss me off?

I am honestly just ranting as I’ve done everything and now we’re planning on moving from our lovely home, we’ve lived here for 5 years. All because of them. I’m so upset and completely done, I am so angry all the time. We work long shifts and they don’t care, even though they are aware of this (they’re unemployed if it wasn’t obvious.)

I’m sorry - can you complain to your local councillors too?
I don’t blame you for moving - the peace will be worth the hassle; they’re unlikely to change their behaviour.

Hi op how disgusting, fun and noise here and there fine but what sort of people think a constant disruption is ok??

They ideally should be fined but again when people care so little I'd worry about violent repercussions.

However you mentioned feral kids exposed today drug parties I wonder if you can make an anymous call about that?

crazeekat · 30/05/2025 19:19

Sorry I live in although not as bad circumstances quite similar and it’s draining on my mental and physical health. All the complaints and working with services doesn’t do it on a night to night basis when Al this is going on it’s the worst. Please just move if you can. Your sanity comes first. And take a dart to the bouncy castle

Words · 30/05/2025 19:33

I'm so sorry Flowers

PinataHeeHaw · 30/05/2025 19:40

Please get in touch with the Council's enforcement team and don't stop. Eventually they'll get taken to court or evicted if they rent. I had noise from neighbours dogs and I didn't stop complaining to the council. The Council were sick of me but had to act each and every time and the neighbour eventually got the message because she didn't want to get in to trouble any further.

Turmerictolly · 30/05/2025 19:49

if you’re thinking of selling, don’t contact the enforcement team. You’d be legally obliged to declare a neighbour dispute which would scupper any sale. If you’re renting, the get out asap. Better to move than resent each day and get increasingly angry and bitter.

user1471538283 · 30/05/2025 20:04

I'm sorry you are going through this. I had 2 sets of horrible and noisy neighbours and it nearly broke my health

Like you I didn't understand why they did it but there were no consequences. My city council is useless and one side didn't care even when the police turned up. I bet like my neighbours they hate noise made by others.

All you can do is move. I moved to an apartment initially surrounded by many more neighbours and it was relatively quiet.

They have contact with social services already, so they’re aware. I myself have brought up concern for their kids but again they don’t care it’s awful. I do feel bad for them.

We’re renting luckily, so it’s an easier get out, but I am upset as we have good rent price and in a good area, I don’t think we’ll find anywhere like this again.

No not a good idea as you have to disclose when you sell. Just move (very unfair, but)

If you read the full thread you would see that op is renting.

babystarsandmoon · 31/05/2025 23:10

Keep on at the council.

We have just had letters through from a neighbourhood officer at the council asking if we know who is causing antisocial behaviour but I haven’t heard a thing so it must be over the other side of our street.

Your local area should have the same council officer to contact.

KaliJones · 17/06/2025 19:16

Don’t know if anyone wants an update but it’s gone to a community trigger where they determined the problem has been resolved. It hasn’t. Still making noise recordings and complaints.

They said I can’t complain about kids playing, which isn’t what the complaints are even for, I have recorded screaming swearing shouting and music. They’ve closed the case saying resolved and said I can complain again but that’s it. I had to speak to the nastiest council worker I’ve ever come across who told me I shouldn’t have done the community trigger as it was a waste of time and that I can’t complain about children playing, I said to him he obviously hasn’t listened to my complaints at all because all noise complaints have been of arguing and music and I hung up on him because I got extremely angry and didn’t want to say anything I’d regret.

So that’s that. Guess we’re moving

Oh @KaliJones I'm so sorry. I had this with my next door neighbour and noise with her dogs constantly. The noise office was also dismissive but I wouldn't leave him alone. Please don't give up.

londongirl12 · 17/06/2025 20:45

I’d be contacting your local councillor and MP. Don’t give up yet!!

londongirl12 · 17/06/2025 20:46

Get all the neighbours to do the same.

Contact your councillor. Get the name of the person who closed the case and complain about them too. Call local safeguarding and your MP.

I had a neighbour like this once and it nearly broke me. Sunday night parties until 3am when we had work the next morning just felt cruel!!

I ended up checking the Land Registry and found out the house was owned by a housing trust. I Reporting every incident to the police, the council, (noise control) and the trust eventually worked, but it took time and it made me so angry to find out they'd basically been given a free house for causing so much trouble on their previous estate while I was working my ass off to pay for mine. Life does not feel fair sometimes.

MrsMoastyToasty · 17/06/2025 22:25

Escalate the problem through the council's complaints procedure. Even if it means going all the way through to the local government ombudsman.

cordeliavorkosigan · 17/06/2025 22:35

Do they ever sleep?
Do you like opera? Loud, loud opera?
(Joking, but... I've been tempted, with the noise makers in our street)

its my next step to go to ombudsman but I feel so hopeless with it, they just don’t care

They don’t work so likely sleep whenever they feel like it. I’ve been tempted to play heavy metal loudly back at them (more my thing) but I feel like if I do something I’ll get into trouble if that makes sense lol

I wouldn’t, they’ll just lower the bar and make even more noise.

As pp has said, do go ahead with the Ombudsman- you have nothing to lose at this stage and if that doesn’t work then for your own sanity you will have to move.
