Blood test results

I had a blood test two days ago, and I’ve been told to book an appointment with my GP to go over the results.

Will I receive a copy of the results then, or do I have to request my medical records for it?

(I’ve never had a blood test prior to this) TIA.

They can give you a copy there and you may be able to see it on the NHS app if you have it

I see mine on my NHS app , however interpreting them is hard .

I’ve never been given a copy, never heard of that. Your gp will chat through the results, they’ll be on your nhs app too, also your gp records online if you have access to that service.

It depends - I’m in Wales and results aren’t on our NHS app. I’ve had to fill in a request and provide proof of address plus ID just to get hold of my results (they haven’t yet agreed I can have them 🙄)

I just checked the NHS app, but they aren’t on there. I’m in Wales too.

Oh, no way? I only requested my medical records a couple of months too…

The receptionist at the GP prints mine out and I just have to sign a form saying I've had them

If you do a sars, they must, by law, give you them within a reasonable time frame, generally considered to be within 30 days.

Why would you want a copy?

Yes, I used a DSAR to get my medical records a few months ago. I wish I had waited now! I feel bad if I have to make another DSAR to get just my blood test result!

I’m interested in reading it! I checked the NHS app and I’ve been prescribed medication for anaemia.

I’m interested in reading the other results too.

Can i ask what you were prescribed and what your ferritin level was?

I don’t know, I haven’t received my actual results yet!

Ah sorry I thought you since you’ve been given a prescription

LIZS · 29/05/2025 21:46

They will appear on the app or ask the gp to print them off.
