With a UC review do they query large ‘purchases’?

I have a review and I’m worrying they’ll query some large payments (it’s for some private healthcare I can’t access on the nhs). Or do they not care as long as you aren’t getting undeclared income or have over the savings limit?

They might well ask depending on how large

Do they have a limit there are amounts ranging from £250 to £2500 ? They will be able to see from statements though that it’s for health or will they want medical
details (can they ask for that ?)

As long as you don't have savings over £6000 or in rent arrears if you get that element.. you can spend it on exactly what you want.

No savings at all . I was just worried as I saw on a facebook group that they ask about everything and I really don’t want to go into private medical stuff

No they don't.
Non of their business as long as you are not claiming falsely. Once it's in your bank..it's your money to do as you wish.

Loads of people who are too ill to work have crossed over from ESA to UC.. they still spend it on private health.

I wonder if said Facebook group know the facts or if they’re looking to cause worry to vulnerable people. Unfortunately there will always be the ignorant taking umbrage with whom they perceive as shirkers on benefits. I don’t think FB would be a forum to discuss it unless it’s a private group.

No I don't think they query your spending. In my recent review (when I'd had to send them my last four months bank statements) there was a deposit of £350 which they queried. I explained that if they looked at the entry above on my bank statement they'd see a payment of £700 which was for a holiday and the £350 they were querying was my friend paying her half back to me.

The UC man said oh I haven't got any record here of your outgoings, just any irregular income, and then accepted my explanation without any further questions.
