I made a thread about this a while ago but it’s easier to update than go through all of the replies.
To summarise- My NDN has an aggressive dog. It’s bitten someone in the past who refused to report it because they were scared of the NDN. They don’t muzzle it. It’s never walked properly because it’s a nightmare but if they do it’s 5mins late at night and back. It’s a german shepherd. All the other neighbours (elderly as it’s a little village) avoid the times the dog is out as they are scared.
Im not scared of dogs and I'm not a dog hater. We have a dog of our own.
It barks out of the windows. They got curtains and never open them to try and shut it up so just sit in the dark even in summer.
It barks when they go out. If I complain they take it out in the car then bring it back for it to begin again. It stands in the windows barking at every passer by when they are out until they come back.
It barks late at night waking my kids. Usually when they are trying to get it out for its ‘walk’ which is a trip round the block in the dark on a lead.
It barks in the garden constantly. The whole time it’s out. They make no attempt to shut it up. I can no longer sit outside because the noise is insane. If I dare make a squeak it’s off barking and chasing us down the fence. it also growls and jumps up at the fence. My kids don’t want to go outside now.
Im scared of it. I have young children and it lunges at them (and me) as they try and walk it. If I try and pass it on the street they have to step into the road. I don’t want the kids playing out in the garden incase it gets over the fence (although the fence is 6ft so may be being dramatic here)
I want the dog gone. It’s dangerous and torture living next to it. I’ve had enough but they refuse. I’ve spoken to them lots, they apologise. It gets better for a bit then starts again.
This week they got another dog. I honestly can’t believe this shit. Now there’s 2 barking, and fighting, and barking some more. Both German shepherds. They are trying to walk them and getting dragged allover the street while the dogs bark and choke themselves.
What can I do now?
Ive reported it to the council. Because the noise isn’t consistent (ie. They know I’ve reported it!) they will take it to their caravan for a week to lie low then bring it back the council dont believe me. Recordings difficult as it sounds quieter on the app than real life.
Police don’t care. They are secure and on lead and behind a fence. Apparently this is safe. They also have never hurt anyone (because it wasn’t reported)
RSPCA don’t care. They appear healthy, nice house. They also claim to walk them even though a chihuahua would need more exercise than they get.
I keep knocking but they now don’t answer the door. if I speak to them they say sorry but change nothing, infact they made it worse and got a new one!
So now what?! Do I just keep badgering the council forever until they do something more? Like what? They clearly don’t care as nothing changes.
I can’t move before anyone suggests it. I’m in negative equity so have 0 deposit. I also love this house, it was purchased from a grandparent and very sentimental 🙁 I don’t want to leave because of this but I also am fed up with it!
