Early morning is my favourite time of the day, before the mayhem of the day starts.

At 8am, it’s usually pretty hectic here with everyone about to leave the house for work and school but right now (half term for DCs, DH has already left for work), silence!

OP posts:

Chimes chiming, many birds singing, the chicks we have are playing and I can hear them flapping and tweeting.
We live very rurally, nature is loud!!

SwanOfThoseThings · 28/05/2025 08:08

My husband talking about Private Eye which he is reading, the rain outside; some birds twittering and very distantly, the hum of roadworks which my town is currently absolutely full of.

Sunnyday321 · 28/05/2025 08:10

Dh likes to get up and put the t.v. on for the news , I keep out of the way and come on here .
Bin men outside , bird song , and the hum of a car passing now and again . Cat purring beside me .

Goatblu · 28/05/2025 08:16

Wind. It's been really windy for days here.

Mingenious · 28/05/2025 08:22

Birds, bees, the M5 very faintly in the background, the dog occasionally huffing and my work laptop whirring.

What can you hear?
PorgyandBess · 28/05/2025 08:24

Birds, birds, birds. They start at 4am.

indianrunnerduck · 28/05/2025 08:25

Herring Gulls, Crows, Magpies, Blackbirds & a robin. The dog licking her foot.
Tinnitus buzzing.

Peridot1 · 28/05/2025 08:26

The washing machine.

Iamnotaloggrip · 28/05/2025 08:26

A very loud magpie squawking and, in the distance, the motorway. There are other birds too but being drowned out by the magpie!

And now DD coming downstairs.

Purplecatshopaholic · 28/05/2025 08:27

One of my cats meowing. Otherwise, a rare moment of peace, lol

ThomasShelbysfagend · 28/05/2025 08:29

Water gently trickling from the pool to the overflow. Faint splashes as there are 2 happy kids in the pool in front of me.
Faint chatter from the restaurant to the left of me clinking glasses and cutlery as they clear away breakfast dishes.
Im on holiday abroad!

shellyleppard · 28/05/2025 08:31

Blackbirds singing outside, the cats yelling at my son to hurry up with their breakfast 🤣🤣 and a faint humming in my ears 🤔

Crucible · 28/05/2025 08:38

@Mingenious I love the Merlin Bird App.
I can hear my dog snoozing and DH putting coffee on.

PiggieWig · 28/05/2025 08:39

Cars on the main road and my car meowing his head off. He wants his morning stroll.

SweetSound · 28/05/2025 08:40

Our dogs playing. Music from my playlist, currently Noah Kahan.

TheNinthLock · 28/05/2025 08:40

The washing machine splashing the laundry about. Birds in the garden. The road beyond the garden.

AlfredTheButtlerWithTwoTs · 28/05/2025 08:42

Kids are awake and playing, so no peace here sadly 🤪. Should've got up before them to enjoy my coffee and MN in peace

SpacedOutOut · 28/05/2025 08:43

Just a ticking clock. The rest of the house are still in bed.

TheCurious0range · 28/05/2025 08:45

Seagulls, and faintly ds listening to the weekly science podcast on his yoto player, I'm just sorting some washing to be put away

Catsinaflat · 28/05/2025 08:45

I live above shops in zone 1 London. Our road is quiet at this time of day but will be rammed by lunch time. I can currently hear two men talking and shutters being opened. Traffic in the distance and the occasional car outside. Also some people chatting outside a coffee shop. In my flat the washing machine.

Meadowfinch · 28/05/2025 08:47

We have a small building site opposite and I can hear an earth mover, a lorry reversing, hammering from the roofers, an occasional car.

From the back of the house I can hear chiff chaffs, willow warblers, red kites and Andy the farmer calling to his dog.

No noise from DS, who is still sound asleep 😴

SushiDisco · 28/05/2025 08:48

White noise🤣 trying to get ds down for a nap because he woke at 4am 🥲

familyissues12345 · 28/05/2025 10:18

DH yaking on a work call in the study. Rain against the window. Mild tinnitus Envy

rainbowstardrops · 28/05/2025 10:28

I can hear the birds in the garden and the radio! Oh and the constant ringing in my ears due to bloody tinnitus 😬

Seawolves · 28/05/2025 10:31

Feed pump whirring interspersed with heart rate/sats monitor alarming. It's all good fun here.
